Dont you dare Sixers. Don’t you dare lose that damn game 7.
You did this, You got me invested when I had zero expectations what so ever, and now you want to come out there and have all of our star players just lay an egg in game 6.
The Boston Celtics won game 6 by a score of 95-86 and we will play a game 7 in TD garden
Jayson Tatum somehow managed to bounce back from what was a historically bad game in which bro was 0-14 at half time and yet somehow, with the Sixers reeling and surrendering more and more of thier lead, Tatum would hit multiple sepnack 3′s and guide the Celtic to a win in game 6.
The greater concern for me, is that the Celtics had the better energy to star the game, Derrick White was just cashing everything he shot, and we did manage to overcome the 16 point deficit in the 3rd quarter
The Sixers started this game as if we were expecting to get outplayed.Missing layups, hesitating on open looks and yet despite this, the Celtics lead at halftme.
As bad as we were playing, it looked like we were really locked-in defensively and we won the turnover battle by 11-17, and a bunch of those came from 1-on-1 defense where a Sixer would get to the ball when the Celtics attempted to drive.
When the SIxers made that run in the 3rd quarter, you got the feeling that we would maybe go all the way, we di enough to have a 73-71 lead goin in to the 4th quarter.
Again our defense in that game was really awesome, Boston was not getting wide open looks, it’s just that Tatum started getting open and when i looked at Jayson Tatum’s statline on the screen, I felt like we were still in this game and as long as he was having a game this bad we had a chance.
Tatum scored 16 points in th 4th quarter to the Sixers 11 total as a team. Tells you everything.
Joel Embiid was not good.
He was back to overthinking everything , not being decisive as Charles Barkley had noted after game 5, and overall there is no way he is happy with how he played in game 6, and that 26 points on 9-19 shooting, was not at all close to what the league MVP is capable of, and I can’t help but feel that it’s kind of self inflicted because Horford isn’t doing much other than use his hands body.
That 4th quarter down the stretch, with about 4 minutes remaining, was the stuff of Youtube lowlights, and the Celtics deserves credit for how they constanstly got bodies in his way when he would drive the lane.
While Joel and Tyrese Maxey carrie dthe scoring load, they were not helped by James Harden and his 13 points, 7 rebounds amd 9 assists, and I can’t understand how after game 5, none of these guys really feel the need to carry the game for the team.
Doris Burke noted how the SIxers could not find their offense in the final 5 minutes and that’s always a product of our star players being stopped.
Doc Rivers would emplore the players to do a better job moving the ball during a 3rd quarter timeout, and even in the post game press conference, Rivers complained that we “didn’t run our stuff”, when probed by the media, and that’s not all the way incorrect.
Whatever the issue was, game 7 is upon us and I will prey to my deity of choice that these damn Sixers, are finally going to live up to what they’re capable of.
