if i go dark it’s because tommy’s new video is making me experience emotions for the first time in two years.

like, i’m not sure how much crossover there’s gonna be between tommy’s audience and the soothouse ogs, but for those not in the know; this video absolutely reeks of soothouse content.

i’m living in hope that most of yall are at least tangentially aware of soothouse, but on the offchance you’re not, i’ll do my best to explain it. soothouse was the channel wilbur ran and was known for before he got his start as a solo creator. it was a group channel that did content which tommy’s latest video absolutely feels like an homage to. a lot of the people involved in soothouse are still around and still hanging (most notably rhianna, who’s a successful streamer in her own right) and it’s always a bit of a where’s wally because sometimes someone will post a vlog (fundy’s most recent one was good for this) and it’ll be like “hey i know them”. they were one of the big boy channels in the reading reddit genre when that was in its peak back in 2018/19, but we’re essentially the genesis of an entire genre of content that branched away slightly from the reddit mold.

but back on the topic of the “Dreams Comments” video. this latest endeavour from tommy would be completely at home on the Soothouse channel had dream been big back in the day. so to see tommy recording this video with David (original soothouse member) and Jack Manifold (who got his start talking about bread in the soothouse discord server and if you’ve never heard him tell that story then look it up im sure there’s clips (1 mill stream with niki i think he mentioned it?)) is just so special.

soothouse dsmp role headcanons

i got bored and i was like, 'huh! i miss soothouse and the dreamsmp is cool!' so i decided to brainstorm what roles i think the soots would have in the smp

of course not completely accurate, just on my own thoughts!

Matt - More of a hero type that just wants his friends to get along, but if they offer him to do some risky things, he'd bite. Even through his and Wilbur's history, he'd likely be one of the last Soots to think about forgiving him. His main drive is not to get the group back together, but to make sure people are okay in the end.

Dan - Villain, or at least attempt to be. Due to his joking nature he'd probably make for an interesting villain. His main motivation would be the sheer reactions that he gets from what he causes, let it be laughter, dread, sobbing, he's a wildcard with what he does. One day he may be siding with David, the next he's setting fire to Matt's house.

Jack - More of a sidelines kind of guy but if he had to join anyone it would probably be whatever side Dan and David were on. Doesn't go out of his way to hurt anyone, but doesn't go out of his way to fully help any of them too. He's just there to vibe with his friends, stories aside.

David - Neutral leaning more towards a villain in the alignment sense being as chaotic as he is with Dan. Usually when he walks into the room, it's easy to assume that if it's calm, it's going to very quickly turn into some form of chaos. Let that be something being burnt or screaming. David originally went into the server with full intent of being a villain, but he realized that in the end he'd just repeat history if he went down that route.

Charlie - Neutral, he likes to cause chaos but also doesn't want to cause any irreversible damage. Probably killed some pets here and there. Due to how much he just wants to hang out with everyone, he's been called a traitor numerous times and probably has lost a canon life or two from his own friends.

Rhianna - Would try to help out and be on whatever side is good, but would likely stick with whatever Niki goes for a lot. Even if she likes to be more on the chaotic side, if it involves her friends getting hurt, she wants to try to put a stop to it immediately. Aside from Niki, she'd probably be closest with Charlie.
