Reflection: I understand this sentiment, completely. I used to tell others that I thought my purpose in life was to make people laugh or smile, but it was coming from a dark place…it was me trying to let the goodness in my heart, shine. I’ve finally realized my purpose and it’s the purpose of every individual who breaks from the chains of despair; to be happy. Live your life, to the best of your ability, and cherish every human interaction, every moment of love, every good memory and every adventure. This is the purpose of life, for it is the sum of one’s experiences that build a person and it is only the memory and impact of these experiences that can be taken with us when our vessel has reached its expiration. One of my favorite TV shows is Live PD. #livepdnation I watch the officers respond to calls in some hellish locations and crazy situations. And many of the people they encounter have me asking myself, "Oh mylanta! What sort of fresh hell do they live thru everyday?" ** But here's the thing: they can change their circumstances. It will not be easy, for sure. It will take a lot of commitment to start ~ and even more to keep going. But it can be done. ** Seeing their lives; knowing mine - I realize how blessed I was to have parents who raised me with strong morals and ethics, bound together in a cocoon of faith and love. ** They weren't perfect, but no one is. And hopefully, I learned from them and was able to give my children a good, faith based foundation for life thru my parenting. ** I made mistakes; some big ones, for sure. Don't think I am glossing over anything here. I'm not. I just know that I can't go back and relive them. They are in the past. I have asked forgiveness. I have learned from them. And so I move forward. ** My story could have been written differently. But God wrote it in His way to teach me and lead me closer to Him. I am okay with that. ** This weekend, as we celebrate mothers every where, in every form, I am thankful for the many people who influenced my life and helped me become the person I am. I ask for grace and mercy for mistakes made in my parenting.
