❝ & i leave behind this hurricane of fucking lies & i walked this line a million & one fucking times but not this time
beatrice sinclair, or as she prefered to be called, ‘bee’ was always a happy child. her mother doted on her, her older sister took her under her wings, and her father adored her. she was the golden girl, with a bright future ahead of her. as she grew older, however, she noticed that the words that often came from her parents were nothing more than lies - they tried to preach about loving everyone and accepting others for their differences instead of their similarities, but the world around her was often bland, boring - isolated. her sister fell right in line, finding a young preacher to marry right after college, and leaving bee alone in her parents home that was rapidly becoming more silent by the day. her parents didn’t speak - not to each other, and as she forced her way through the end of her high school years and began to make choices they didn’t like, not even to her. after her graduation day, she packed the car she’d been gifted from her older sister and headed south - all the way to arizona, just to get out. arizona was good for bee, and she thrived at a state university there. she wrote editorials and opinion pieces about the world around them - by the time she was a junior, she had her own ‘dear abby’ column where she bestowed advice upon the rest of her peers. it was easier to hide behind the column than to admit that her life was, for lack of a better word, chaos. without either daughter in the house, her parents split and her mother headed for her home state of vermont, and her father remarried almost immediately and began a new family. it was clear to bee that washington was dead to her - and that she, along with her mother, were dead to her father. upon graduation she applied to a handful of graduate programs in vermont and massachusetts, pleased that her first choice was only a thirty minute drive away from her mother, with whom she wants to reconnect with. a journalism program can only help her mature her natural talent at writing pieces that resonate with an audience, and bee’s always had an easy time fitting in - her year so far at fulton has been no different. so long as she portrays the fun party girl aesthetic she’s always aimed for, no one has to know there’s another bee hidden deep inside of herself.
i don’t feel any shame, i won’t apologize when there ain’t nowhere you can go running away from pain when you’ve been victimized tales from another broken home ❞
bee & lennon mccartney ↭ bee has striven to be as neutral as possible when it comes to her friendships; a graduate program of only nine students can be difficult enough to navigate, but she knows these connections are what’s going to help her later on in life. she’s often been the one to jump to lennon’s aid when ellis starts attacking - and trying to work out what, exactly, ellis has against lennon behind closed doors. while bee wouldn’t say they’re close, by any means, she keeps an eye on lennon - after all, anyone who pretends to be that innocent clearly has something to hide. bee & richard holloway ↭ bee’s always been one to keep her artistic nature quiet; it was never what her father wanted to nurture, by any means, but when richard saw a doodle on the side of an assignment and asked if she could blow it up in order to tattoo it on someone, the two forged an important bond. while bee is terrified of needles herself, she’s allowed richard to mark her just once with her own drawing, in exchange for the various pieces she allows him to place on others skin. richard is one of the few who bee feels she can be herself around - a joint on the back porch, or a swig from his flask in the library when all is quiet - and their friendship is a respite for bee to recharge herself before performing in front of everyone else again.
