Today, my Mom and I hung out in a small town outside of Victoria. In our matching vests, may I add. lol. My step Dad had a job out that way so we tagged along and he dropped us off at 9am. We went for coffee and then checked out a few funky little stores.
I picked up a very simple Lapis Lazuli beaded necklace that is very pretty. I bought my Mom a necklace as well with sea glass and a silver whale tale.
Afterwards, we went for a walk along the boardwalk.
Then we met with my step Dad and had a light dinner. I really wanted to go to the Whiffin Spit. None of us have been there before so we went for a walk along the trail.
This is a popular 2.7 km (1.6 mi) round-trip gravel trail with a beach on each side. My photos don’t do it justice. It’s a very beautiful place to visit. It’s a natural breakwater separating Sooke Harbour from the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Some people have seen whales there but we just saw some seals and eagles. Sometimes there are also sea lions and otters, too. There are also quite a few benches to sit at and just enjoy the sounds of the waves.
It was a beautiful (but very long) day and I really enjoyed my time outside. I took 2 pain pills and a Tylenol.
This evening, they dropped me off at the kid’s place. We have a lot of errands to do this weekend.
I also spoke to someone from a drug company (AstraZeneca) this past week about getting my next possible treatment covered. I had to consent to a long disclaimer they played to me over the phone. They also sent me some emails. Now I have to wait for them to take it to a board for approval. I’m not holding my breath. Regardless, after hearing all the brutal side effects, I honestly don’t know how excited I am about trying this drug, anyway. It sounds really tough.
What will be will be.
In the meantime, I’m still just taking it one day at a time while trying to get out in nature as much as possible.
