I’ve been feeling sad & just very melancholic for no reason lately so uh, would any of y’all care to hear about some more of my ocs? I’m really obsessed with Mirs & Jackson right now
Mirs is my robot girl & Jackson is my nerdy tiefling forensic investigator
Gavin could watch their garden grow in a beautiful field of untold lies and quiet whispers that they weren't meant to be.
Gavin walked upon the field at midday, and saw a new patch of pink tulips pop from the ground. He counted them one by one and as the more he counted, the more he felt his stomach twist and turn. Some were his own, and some were his lovers.Together they made a garden of their own.
He held his hand out, and Gavin smiled and took it as they danced among the violets and the daisies. Each time hoping to step on a flower to forget the words that weren't said.
"Gavin, I'm sorry," he would tell him. His eyes would mean it. A shade of blue that reminded him of the hydrangeas that smelled wonderful. In the garden, they smelled like his clothes and Gavin could sit by them and sniff them all day.
"Ryan, please, listen," he would cry as he watched him stomp out of the room. He jumped out of bed and onto the goldenrods that he grew only moments ago. He reached out for his arm and pulled him towards him. He watched Ryan's face turn towards him with teary red eyes that grew a patch of pennyroyals in their garden. Gavin saw that the pennyroyals spread among the flowers as the tears dripped down his face. He held on tightly as he didn't know how to tell him with words. The goldenrod was staining his feet and it would only be best to tear them out from the roots and watch them die.
Yet, they bloomed again, he let them. Ryan had come back to bed and hadn't made a sound.
They had told them. Everyone had told them that they should burn their garden and perhaps they wouldn't have to remove the weeds every week. They became stubborn.
"Pick out the weeds and leave the roses," Ryan had said as he kissed down Gavin's neck in the freshly de-weeded garden. Gavin could feel the grass crunch under their movements as they awoke the fireflies.
It was the rare time when Gavin would look upon their garden and only see red roses. The romance had covered the other flowers and yet, he had to be cautious to walk in his garden as the thorns tore at his heart because neither of them can forget the pain of being in love.
When the sunflowers peaked through, Gavin could feel his heart bleed as the airport was a constant reminder that perhaps he was a sunflower himself and he was following the wrong sun. As the night came in the country that Ryan didn't live, he drooped lower and lower into the bed, waiting for the sun to decide his path until the night.
"Come home safe, ok?" Ryan said on the phone. Gavin could feel under his feet the growth of the adonis. Ryan was growing them. Gavin couldn't stop them from growing. They only bloomed when the sunflowers were asleep.
"I promise I will," and flowers did not grow.
Gavin kissed him, hard, when the sunflowers died and the roses were bigger, thicker than ever. In the middle of their garden, did Ryan believe he had fallen in love again with the Englishman that drove him crazy with lust.
It wasn't until Ryan had seen the tiniest daffodils in the middle of their garden. He didn't believe them, he didn't believe anyone.
Then there were the lovelies.
"Gavin, stay with me," as he walked upon the garden, crushing flowers under each step but growing new ones the more he chased after him.
"Where did I go wrong?" he asked. The cypress flowers had tried to make their way to the dying red roses and did not succeed. Ryan tried to water the garden, removing flowers and trying to cut down the thorns one by one to prove that perhaps that they garden they grew together was beautiful.
That it was their garden that they made. That every flower had grown for a reason and had died to benefit them. Ryan would tear the goldenrod so it would never stain his feet again. He would rip them all up from their roots and let the grass grow upon the fertile land.
He never got the answer, and the roses had long since died and had left the thorns to grow around his heart.
