About the Blazing Jewel live, I was talking about this on twitter too but like Jamil’s performances are incredible while he doesn’t give anything in terms of fan service; he only bows politely when Far Out ends and doesn’t even talk at the end when saying goodbye etc. and people are memeing how he just stands there like 🧍♂️
It is pretty funny, but also kinda sad if you think about it… he’s clearly more expressive during his own solo than in Far Out, so he’s probably in full servant mode when with Kalim, esp at a public event like this where he probably has to be on high alert as a bodyguard. The Jamil we know doesn’t exist outside of NRC walls or his privacy.
Like if you contextualize it, he’s performing on a stage in front of strangers who don’t know what happened in B4 and don’t know about his OB. Most people outside of school/family probably only know pre-B4 Jamil. Maybe this live is getting broadcasted in Scalding Sands too. During Absolutely Beautiful he’s a part of a group so it’s different, but alone with Kalim he’s probably still expected to not outshine his master. So he does just that, like he’s always done.
It’s like a reminder that Jamil still isn’t truly free, so that makes all the sides of him we get to see in game all the more precious. Not everyone gets to know the capable, talented, sharp-tongued, overthinking & endearing loser Jamil that we know and adore :,)
