*hugs* Funny story: I read your tags and for a minute I legit thought that batophobia was bat-o-phobia, like fear of bats.
Ha! I can see why your brain made that connection - and with a large, drafty cathedral that I’m sure is home to more than one family of bats, it would also fit with the fear!

I am so sorry. I didn’t even know that fear of cathedrals was a thing. Tall buildings = heights, so that I get. Being triggered due to 9-11 I get. (I worked right near an airport & I’m that way about the sound of airplanes now.) Now I know about batophobia and again, sorry. :( Hoping most on your dash are tagging so you can block it. Which doesn’t help of course if you’re on your phone
It’s not just cathedrals, it’s large monuments and malls and convention centers and skyscrapers. I’ve had this fear for as long as I can remember. I’m much, much better than I used to be. I went to NYC (twice!) in the last few years and did great and when I went to Europe a few years ago, I visited several cathedrals with just a little squeamishness. (And then I froze at an escalator at a medical conference last month. So, not entirely cured).
Extinction therapy works the best for me, ergo, a dash full of pictures will actually help relieve the fear. It’s just a weird feeling to be suddenly confronted with your phobia.
a legit headcanon: kent attends jack's graduation. he's still a little bitter from their interaction at epikegster and he also feels bad for forcing his presence on jack when it was clearly unwanted, so he stays in the back. he's there alone. he dresses as inconspicuously as possible--he doesn't want anybody recognizing him because he doesn't want jack to know he was there. he just wants to see jack walk across the stage, bc even though he's mad he's also hella proud & he still loves jack a lot
#12 secret relationship, pimms (bonus points if jack is also (consensually) dating bitty! maybe even after the cup kiss?)
Jack stumbles into his apartment aching with the right kind of exhaustion after staying late for some unexpected interviews about how coming back to the team has been since coming out. Marty told him not to push himself so hard, which Jack appreciates, but still pushed himself anyway.
His fingers run along the cool, smooth walls of his hallway until he reaches his bedroom. He’s grateful that he showered in the locker room so instead of feeling gross and too tired to do anything about it, he’s able to toe off his yellow sneakers, push his sweatpants off his hips and ass until they puddle on the floor with a little wiggling so he can just step out of them, and pulls his shirt over his head before he flops face down on his bed. Within minutes, he’s dead to the world.
He stirs when his bedroom door creaks, but just clutches his pillow a little closer and tries to swim back down into the dream he can’t quite remember. He thinks he’s found it again when the bed dips down beside him and calloused hands smooth over his shoulders. Lips press a gentle kiss to his aching shoulder and Jack hums at the touch.
“Mmm, Kenny,” he mumbles. He’s had this dream many times before and always loves how it ends. He turns over.
“Hey, Zimms.”
Jack’s eyes shoot open. Right beside him is Kent laying in his bed when he’s supposed to be across the country, preparing for his own upcoming season. A wide smile spreads across his face when he realizes this isn’t a wonderful dream–it’s real.
“What? How’d you get here? You’re supposed to–”
Kent kisses him silent with his own smile playing at the corner of his soft lips. Jack leans into his touch and holds Kent’s face like something fragile and precious.
“Bits just went to Georgia and I had some freetime. Figured you wouldn’t mind my company. And don’t worry. None of the reporters saw me,” Kent tells him when he breaks their kiss and smooths out Jack’s bedhead. “Besides, I missed you.”
“I missed you too, Kenny. How long can you stay?”
Kent settles himself down in Jack’s arms and sighs. “Just a few days.”
“Guess we better make the most of it, eh?” Jack reaches out to Kent and pulls him into a more heated kiss.
“it’s my bday” as in *today*????
yes! today. I’m officially 23!

paradex + “What the fuck happened to your face?” (bonus points if polyfarms is a thing as well. ALL THE POLYAMORY!)
((ohhh so this has to be an OoG AU obvi, which I’m totally cool with))
for @dexrarepairweek
The Falcs shut out the Rangers at home. During the course of the second period, Dex gets a puck to the face. Later, Jack will chirp him for finally looking like a hockey player. Snowy chirps him for doing his job a little too well.
“You don’t have to lay your life on the line for me, for fuck’s sake,” Snowy tells him.
He knew, however, that no amount of chirps or well wishes made up for the fact that his nose was broken. He already has big ears and bright red hair. A crooked nose will totally completely the “gawky white guy” aesthetic he’s been rocking since the day his growth spurt hit in seventh grade.
He’s told he can shower and head out early. Normally, that wouldn’t be allowed. But he can’t play the last period with his nose in a split. When Dex pulls up in front of his apartment building, he steals a few minutes of quiet breathing. Preparing himself for a barrage of questions and concerns.
Dex takes the stairs up to his fourth floor rather than the elevator. As he put his key in the lock, the door flies open. Nursey all but yanks him inside. He proceeds to check every inch of Dex’s face.
“Quit it,” Dex whines.
Nursey tuts. “It looks worse than it did on TV.”
Dex grimaces. “Please tell me you’re the only one who saw it.”
“Nope,” Farmer shouts from her office. “Parse called from the bar too.”
Dex sighs, of course he saw. He trudges to the couch, falling back carelessly. Nursey pats him on the back, heading toward the kitchen.
“Want anything?” Nursey asks.
“A time machine,” he mutters.
“You know no one’s that rich, right?” Nursey chirps.
Dex nods despite the fact that Nursey probably isn’t looking in his direction. “Maybe just leftovers, then.”
Farmer comes out eventually, sitting down next to Dex. She pulls him closer so he can use her shoulder as a pillow.
“It’s not so bad, y’know?” she assures. “You’ll look distinguished.”
“Distinguished is another word for ugly,” Dex argues.
“Remind me never to get you a tweed jacket then,” Nursey says.
“You’d get that for yourself, babe,” Farmer counters.
“True,” Nursey concedes. “Anyway, what’s eating you, Poindexter?”
Dex gestures with one hand, “who’s going to be worse? Chris or Kent?”
“Chris isn’t going to be that bad–” Farmer says at the same time Nursey says “oh good point.”
Dex rolls his eyes. “I know they mean well. I’m just…not up for being fretted over right now.”
Farmer pats him sympathetically. “Tough shit. It’s gonna happen, whether you like it or not.”
He nods, submitting to his fate.
Kent gets home first. He storms through the apartment, forgetting to close the door behind him. (Nursey has to get up to fix that.) Kent moves Dex’s at different angles.
Once he’s satisfied, Kent sighs. “What did I tell you at Anderson?”
“He’s a dirty son of a bitch,” Dex recites.
“And,” Kent says, “not to get on his bad side.”
“I thought you meant that metaphorically,” Dex huffs.
“Nope,” Kent says. He carefully tilts his head, planting a gentle kiss on Dex’s lips. “Glad you’re okay, though.”
Dex grins. “Me too.”
Chris arrives a few minutes later. Kent and Farmer scoot further down the sectional to give them space. Chris stares at Dex’s nose split for a minute.
“Chow–”
“Don’t,” Chris interrupts Dex’s protests.
Chris takes Dex’s hands, rubbing circles into his thumbs. Dex squeezes back.
“It wasn’t your fault,” Dex argues.
“I told them not to give you shit,” Chris says. “I fucking hate them sometimes.”
“Hey,” Dex nudges him. “I’ll be fine.”
Chris glares half halfheartedly. “Are you okay? Seriously?”
Dex nods. “I got half the night off, and you’re here. How could I not be?”
OMG ARE YOU IN PHOENIX??? I grew up down there and it's literally the hottest fucking place *ever*. (And if you are we should totes meet up some time because I live up in Flagstaff now!)
Yes. Phoenix, that’s it. And totally, as soon as my schedule clears up.
