BELLUS

- loves when his hair is touched but is v picky about who he lets touch it in the first place!! thankfully kritana is allowed to :] as long as she brushes n braids it too-

- has to make sure he's in the most Comfortable position tho, so he often ends up lying over her for the best pets & hair playing. she's trapped until he's satisfied with how much attention he receives....

MERI

- rude lil guy who talks a lot of trash about intimacy because he's emotionally constipated but also really wants his hair played with u u,, especially if he sees kritana giving the other mers that attention before him

- Incredibly Squirmy during most of it. keeps shuffling around and trying to look at her & others, he just has a hard time staying still. if she manages keeps it going long enough though, he'll get sleepy enough to finally relax

KENN

- he appreciates it, he really does. but kenns tense during the act because even tho it's meant to be relaxing, hes worried about the other mers if they're out of his line of sight. Invest In A Babysitter Before Petting

- kritana can distract him with conversation tho!! it'll take a moment, but she'd be able to draw him out of his anxiety by just taking about recent adventures she's been on, enough to help him forget for the time being

CASPIAN

- This Guy..... it's so hard to get reactions out of him!! it's more telling about who he does and doesn't allow to do certain acts with him as a sign of the lvl of closeness, and kritana is one of the few he allows to touch his hair. and be behind him in general

- keeps his eyes closed to the point of it being hard to tell if he's asleep or not. and then when kritana stops to check, he's opening his eyes and telling her to keep going. Every Time. it's kind of cute at first but then it starts going on for hours.... caspian please her arms are getting sore........

- Meri is.... well, Meri. Surprisingly he might be one of the easiest for Kritana to look after since under the effects of the love potion, he's entirely focused on whoever it is that he "fell for" to the point that there's none of his usual Shenanigans to look out for

- To be honest, her safest bet is to just leave him with whoever it is he has his sights on (within reason) because the Moment she tries to take him away, he's kicking and screaming!!

- It'd probably be easy to subdue him if it wasn't for the fact she has three other mermaids to look after ajfjsjjxs

- Bellus is really just his usual self! Or... at least seems to be. He still has his flirty moments, compliments people he thinks are pretty, but he's a lot more... subdued

- like he's lost interest in everyone

- it isn't until someone mentions Percy flying by and Bellus tries to fucking get out the nearest window to see him is it obvious that he's under the potion too. Kritana has to keep this fucker from jumping into the ocean around Piraticus and swimming away where she can't reach!! He ends up being the second biggest handful to deal with if she doesn't want a runaway mermaid

- Kenn is trying, he really is. His habit of looking out for people he cares about has been focused entirely on whoever it is he came into contact with after his dosage, so now whoever it is being buried under gifts by a smothering yet well-intentioned Kenn

- He does listen to Kritana more than Meri!! He still keeps lingering with whoever he's in "love" with, but he'll listen long enough to pull away from them when Kritana asks. Really, the main problem she has to deal with is him constantly getting distracted by things wondering if his person would like this or want that

- On the bright side, he does help her wrangle in the other Mers. But he has a constant longing air as long as he's away from his "love"

- Caspian is a Menace. Until the other Mers, he grew up away from even Neverland civilization with a morally grey at best adult being one of the only two people in his life. So when he's under the love potion affect, he also wants to always be with his "love" but unlike the others who wanna go to them, he's taking Them to Him

- Yeah this man is straight up hunting down whatever poor fucker managed to catch his eye. He'll even go back to his merform if it'll help, which has the threat of Literally Breaking The Piraticus Ship. Kritana really has her hands full ☆

- Hes the one Kritana would have to keep an eye on the most to prevent damage to the ship and PTSD for whoever got stuck as his "love". Unlike the others who just try to sneak away, he's willing to lie and use force to get out of Kritana's watch. Put a fucking backpack leash on this man

the various fishies their merforms are based on!! minus kenn because all lionfish pretty much look the same-

meri's a betta fish, caspian a giant ocean manta ray, & bellus is a french anglelfish

unlike the others, caspian's merform has the more skin-like texture instead of scales and due to the fact theyre cartilaginous, he has more human-like features to his merform (ie his ears & lack of webbing between fingers)

his markings on his merform are also unique to him since the markings of giant ocean manta rays differ from individual to individual (maybe ill remake his marks to be more detailed-)

🌺 Merboys Merboys

i feel like the merboys have pretty obvious design influences from the canon mermaids, since the canon ones had pretty simple designs in the first place

caspian, kenn, and meri keep more of the hair flow of their original counterparts but i decided to pull bellus's into a braid over the shoulder so he'd also look similar to the other blonde mermaid

other than that, another design fact i can give is more about their personalities?? they all Vaguely represent the different facets of maturity

meri & bellus are both the young immaturity thats in neverland but two versions of it - while bellus is the wonder & imagination but lack of realistic expectations, meri is the unintentional cruelty & lack of proper awareness of consequences children have before they grow up

caspian & kenn, in similar ways to meri & bellus, are the older maturity that neverland both fears and experiences. kenn is the awareness of responsibility & duty while caspian is the now intentional cruelty that comes when you grow up and now understand the world better

Trinkets would always wash up on the shores outside the Lagoons.

Much of it honestly wasn’t that interesting. Usually it was the odd shiny but transparent rocks that guppies loved collecting as their very first decorations, or at least until they outgrew them. Sometimes the fae would come down to carry off the glittering trash to their Tree to do whatever it was fae did, but most mermaids didn’t pay it much mind.

Bellus didn’t either.

He could care less what they took as long as he got his own little treasures hidden under the junk stuck in the sands.

That’s how he found his first one - cover stained, pages torn, but somehow legible under the sea salt hardened by the sun. That evening he pulled one of the drowning sailors to the shore, just to ask them to read out the pages. And then again. And then again and again until he had to throw them back to sea. “Once upon a time, there was a beautiful mermaid, the youngest of seven sisters...”
