you mean personality?? implicitly, or just without anyone noticing really, the two have become a weird, challenging, and good balance for each other, a true opposites attract friendship. and just bring more out of each other than expected.
severus as the one of the true people that can knock some sense into bennett. or bennett, always the first to try and run into a fire or play the hero, maybe could’ve permeated over to sev at least in new perspectives?

it’ll never matter about any obvious differences these two have, Severus is still actually one of Bennett’s oldest friends. Being a werewolf in a muggle world, even with Bennett's personality isn't really a situation where he could make a lot of deeper friendships at home, and when Severus came into his life, none of it really by choice being roommates, but Bennett latched onto him and still does now with the same intensity from their first year, whenever Bennett feels loneliest and doesn't know what to do about it.
