To put him into modern relevance for those of my generation not exactly politically savvy; Bernie Sanders is the Jon Snow of the Presidential race.
Bernie Sanders has been credited with starting a political revolution whether he wins or loses the election in November.
He stands for the middle class, where the Night's Watch defends the realm of man. He easily relates to the bastard Jon Snow as both are shunned in their domains; one political, the other House Stark. Sanders and Snow both maintain their moral code to support an unwavering sense of honor, justice and humanity to unity their respective people so they can fight for the survival of their respective realms.
The Night’s Watch is always in need of able bodies and usually it is up to the local magistrate to round up criminals to offer them the choice of duty or execution. Jon Snow on the other hand is a rarity within the Night’s Watch as he never committed a crime to be forced into the Watch; he valiantly volunteers hoping for adventure and satisfaction in duty. Sanders has had a long career in politics dating back to being a visible activist during the civil rights movement. He continues to fight for American equality to this day. He has clear, concise answers on the common issues his fellow Americans face and has maintained his convictions on the stances he takes as a political leader.
Sanders compares to Snow by running a clean campaign that has neither taken, nor asked for any handouts from big campaign contributors or corporate donors. He has raised funds to back his campaign compared to other candidates that accept kickbacks as standard practice and Super PAC support. Money and power, as with Jon Snow, have no hold over Bernie. His agenda is to make the economic climate for the working middle class more suitable, while making the richer, wealthier Americans pay their fair share.
Each man held a position of leadership within their groups. Jon Snow eventually earns the rank of Lord Commander, though he is constantly undermined by peers. Those new underlings eventually turn his brothers against him, using deceit and the label of traitor to unravel his progress. Corporate media has subtly underplayed coverage of Bernie Sanders. Election suppression has struck multiple states (AZ, MO, etc..) to reduce the primary numbers to those willing and able to enact their right to vote. Shadowy figures are going out of their way to sabotage Bernie's campaign and deceive the American public into believing he stands no chance.
Bernie Sanders is the type of candidate that the United States needs to continue true change. He is the underdog we all rooted for in Jon Snow. He fights for just causes, with no secret motives or strings attached. We the people should stand up and elect a visionary as the next President rather than a lunatic or a swindler.
