TWO fics in one night?? wowza crazy. unheard of, actually. this is angst but it's very lighthearted angst based loosely on an actual argument between me and my boyfriend (minus the door thing and y'know, being spies). enjoy my lovelies xx

Bucky Barnes could say with the utmost confidence that he had dealt with some of the most dangerous situations in the world. Bombs, bullets, blades - you named it, he'd probably been hit by it, or launched one at someone else. He had the jagged pink scars on the flesh of his torso to show it; veiny lines, some raised, some flat, that you followed with the tips of your fingers in the morning, when daylight hadn't quite broken and Bucky was just coming to. He could recount tales of horror and bloodshed, lost comrades and betrayals that meant he still looked over his shoulder.
Nothing though - and I mean absolutely nothing - could compare to the terror or fear of when you were pissed off.
Bucky had spent the better part of a decade working with Bruce Banner and that felt like frolicking through a field of flowers in comparison to when you angry. It didn't happen often, and it took a very specific combination of Bucky a) saying the wrong thing and b) continuing to push it before you had...well, Hulked out, as it were.
"Doll," Bucky didn't like to beg, but his tone was pleading as he knocked on your bedroom door, metal arm hanging at his side like a deadweight, "I said I was sorry."
"FUCK. OFF!"
That was a politer response than the last time he had knocked, although it was promptly followed the word dickhead, so maybe not. These circumstances were particularly trying because Bucky had questioned you on the thing he knew was a landmine: your decisions in the field. You'd both landed back from an op in London at five that morning, and the jet lag and exhaustion had only added fuel to the fire. The seven hours he spent trapped in an enclosed space with you on the quintjet silently begging that you weren't going to press the eject button on his seat had been the longest of his life.
"Baby, what did we say about not letting our personal stuff get in the way of work?" Bucky continued, hand still firmly planted on the door, "we still have to debrief Steve and I don't think he'll want to be around this-"
"- what did we say about you not being a dickhead, dickhead?"
Bucky silently cursed the drunk English man you'd stumbled across in a pub the previous night. He had taught you both a plethora of colourful insults and it was becoming clear which one was your favourite.
"If you don't come out, I'll break this door down," Bucky said, "and you know I'm not joking."
You huffed, staring at your own side of the door. Bucky had never been capable of just leaving things the fuck alone. He had to push; for a resolution, for an argument, for an explosive end to whatever was happening or even better, a quiet one. In his past, he couldn't afford to leave things hanging on bad terms with people. He'd lost too many people that he hadn't had a chance to say goodbye to. His world would have ended if you'd been one of them.
"Fine, do it," you muttered. Half of you was trying to call his bluff - you'd already had to call the landlord twice this month. Once because you'd stolen Steve's shield to play frisbee with and accidentally launched it through the window, and another because his fist had gone through the wall during a drunken arm wrestle with Sam.
You heard footsteps as Bucky backed up for room, and a second later the door came crashing down with a loud thud. He landed with all the grace of a legless horse, brown hair a mess around his face as he looked up at you, blue eyes glaring at the fact you hadn't stood down. You couldn't help but let out an almost ugly snort.
"It's not funny," Bucky huffed.
"It's a little bit funny," you tried to hide your smile, albeit it to no success, "especially because I was five seconds away from opening the door."
He let out a sigh. "You are so childish sometimes."
"Mmmm," you hummed in agreement, "you must have been really desperate to have done that, though."
He sniffed and took a seat on the bed beside you. You didn't shuffle away, or snatch your hand back when he tangled his fingers in yours. That was a good sign that you stepped down from murderous to just...manslaughter-ous.
"I'm sorry," Bucky began, "for questioning your judgement in the field, and for making you feel like you made the wrong call. You didn't, but sometimes when you make decisions that can put you in danger, it freaks me out."
"What did we say about not letting our personal stuff get in the way of work?"
He rolled his eyes, albeit playfully. "It goes both ways, sweetheart."
"Yeah, fine," you huffed, rolling your eyes, "I get that."
"Are you still angry with me?"
"A little," you admitted, "but it was kinda funny when you broke the door down, so I've lightened up a little bit."
Bucky pressed a kiss to your temple, lingering for a moment. His stubble always felt soft on the side of your head, and despite his prior title as the Winter Soldier, he was also so warm beside you. His grip on your hand tightened, and he pulled you flush into his side, wrapping his arms tightly around you.
"I love you," he said, voice murmured by his face in your shoulder, "I love you so much and you know I'd never, ever say anything to intentionally hurt you."
"I love you too," you smiled, "and I'm sorry for calling you a dickhead."
Bucky pulled back from the hug, still smiling. "It's okay, of all the words that man taught us, I think it was the least offensive one."
I used to be signifiquint which was a play on the word significant which is important to me and my irl bestie. Then I changed it to squint+clover for Reasons™ 👀
16. Favorite movie:
I could watch Klaus, The Blindside, The HP films and the LotR movies at any given moment and be totally happy.
28. Favorite ice cream?
So in New Zealand they have I've called goody gum drop which is bubblegum flavour with gummy sweets in and it's MY FAAAAAAVE 🤤🤤🤤
76. Have you ever done something you told yourself you wouldn’t?
Literally every day. I am A Lot™ and I always promise myself I'll tone it down but I never manage 🤣🤣
99. Have you ever met someone who didn’t seem real?
Are we talking like a ghost? Or a spirit? Because I, sadly, don't believe in these things. In terms of just general awe.... My best friend's daughter, who happens to be my other bestie, is the most physically gorgeous and internally secure person I've ever met. She's an inspiration
i’m sorry people are being ridiculous at work and i love you dearly and personally, you’re one of my favorite coworkers (if one is generous enough to call posting on tumblr a job of sorts lol)

do you have a favorite GBBO contestant/winner? if so, who? (personally i’ll never forget crying while watching Nadiya win, but I also loved David and Michael and the gang in that season too)
if you had to pick ONE quiz show to send to an american and be like ‘this is it, this is the UK in a nutshell’ which one would it be??
Hello darling one! 🥰🥰🥰
Oh god! Starting off with hard questions! Ummm.... So in season 3, the contestants have to surprise Alex when he comes out of a shed and Rob Beckett dresses up as a granny and maniacally squirts him with a pressure washer. I died!
I LOVED Ruby Bhogal and think only half of it was because I fancied the pants off her! I also loved David and Michael and Antony! My favourite so far!
