“I only ever wanted to hear that you loved me. Was I asking too much?” (Chaleb. Just reblog this meme already so I don't feel awkward lmao.)
The fuck? Chloe eyed Caleb, curious as to where the hell that came from. The woman stood in the doorway to her luxurious bathroom, small hand on the light switch and a baffled expression on her features. “Y-you want me to love you?” This wasn’t at all what was intended to happen between them. When she invited him to her room all those months ago, with full intention to only use him as a sex toy, Chloe assumed he understood this could be nothing more.
That this could be nothing more.
It wasn’t like her to show vulnerability in front of him. In fact she refused to let anyone on this island to catch a glimpse of the girl she left behind because that girl carried so much heartache. This was the place to escape that life. To forge a new one and this man was threatening to bring that old Chloe back.
Her freshly painted lips, a nice seductive shade of red, pressed together and she chose not to display her rage towards the situation. That the voice of that girl poked at her rationale side and forced her to acknowledge it. To acknowledge where Caleb came from.
Because she was there once before.
Chloe’s bare feet glided across the wood floor and as soon as she reached the bed she took a seat next to him. Their bare bodies drank the moonlight which spilled through the open patio doorway by the bed and as much as she enjoyed the sight of his body, she couldn’t even look at it.
Her hands came together in her lap and Chloe stared at them, as if they were the most fascinating thing in the room. This was hard for her and she wished he kept that gag in his mouth, the one that currently rested on the bedside table.
It was within reach...maybe she could strap it back on him and pretend he never spoke. It’d be a lot easier than what was expected of her right now.
“It is, Caleb.” The words came from a faraway place, a place which had been sealed off for close to a year. A place she refused to revisit but now she was forced upon it’s doorstep; in need to be let in. No matter how much she wanted to run away from it.
The woman looked to him, blue eyes as bright as the moon which loomed over the beautiful ocean to the place that gave her a new lease on life.
A life Caleb wanted to be a part of.
However this life wasn’t exactly one she wanted to share with someone else.
Still, she looked at him and actually allowed that wall she worked so damn hard to forge to lose a few bricks, to grant him a glimpse at the girl she once was.
“Why do you love me? I’m not worth loving.”
