Kai: "I'm back from Build-A-Bitch,"
Max: "From where?"
Kai: "I had a company meeting,"
Max: "Ohhh. They whined a lot then?"
Kai: "About everything, "
Max: "...."
Kai: "I'm going to bed,"
Max: "Later, bitch,"
Kai: "I was venting!"
Max: "If you say soooo,"

🌧️ Sad headcanon:
max has a hard time allowing himself to be sad, both because he's assumed the role of a goofy and resilient sunshine of the team too faithfully and feels like he can't let the others see him sad, and because he's grown such thick skin over his mom issues that he starts internalising a lot of the bad feels once he's older. he needs a bit of persuasion to open up about them to anyone except his dad. with friends, he tends to pretend that things are fine in front of them and does the angsting alone somewhere else (as he does in canon pretty much, though there he does clamp up in front of the others and they are just too fucking stupid to notice he just went weirdly quiet. come on guys. a lot of my HCs are designed to be post-canon anyway (or just AUs))
rei is a sensitive boi and cries the most often out of the BBA members. his self confidence is like, paper thin so he has moments of crushing self doubt on a regular basis. and of course, because he's also a guy he rather makes a poetic exit than cries in front of others, like max except he doesn't really hide feeling that way. so the difference is that max is going to pretend to be laughing with the rest and then hides behind a corner later to be depressed alone, while rei will leave a dramatic note spelling out that I Am Now Feeling Sad. I Will Leave To Find Happiness And My Sense Of Purpose. Goodbye [Please Come After Me And Tell Me It's Gonna Be Ok And Maybe Pat My Head]
rei also prides himself in being so Mature and Independent that it's hard for him to admit that he too can feel lonely at times, especially because he willingly left all his family behind to go solo. these boys all need therapy tbh

i skipped money hcs because shopping covered that. have a disproportionately big drawing for this one instead
💤 Sleep headcanon:
i think of them as pretty much opposites, again. rei likes getting up early, he's probably that aggravatingly diciplined guy doing like, aesthetic morning jogs around a lake at dawn. he has already exercised and showered and had breakfast when max is only just waking up and turning over under the covers like. mmm five minutes more mom
but they are both heavy sleepers and don't stir much. growing bois get a good night's sleep. and my fave canon-compliant thing, that in s1 when they shared a bed several times during the tournament, they habitually stayed up late talking about whatever. i even like thinking that's how they got to know each other well. them giggling at the most tired silly stuff in bed at 1am probably drove kyouju crazy. (and then in s2 aren't they staying at takao's house. same shit all over again)
sometimes rei doesn't have the heart to leave the bed earlier because max is so cozily snuggled up next to him(>人<;)

🥂 Drinking headcanon:
this is a fun one. i can't imagine max not being into partying, he's probably the life of a whole lot of parties. but he's also smart enough to know how much to drink without ending up totally plastered and hungover. he likes mixed drinks and sweet cocktails and regularly goes all experimental coming up with his own unusual mixes that are sometimes total failures and then he's the only one who drinks them. or maybe him and takao. i can imagine it
rei is more conservative. he probably follows a healthy diet so he's wary about drinking anything but a bit of wine with a meal or something snazzy like that, but he's also not against a good time with friends so he gradually gets more comfortable with it. he's more of a down-to-earth beer person and max's sugary drink mixes gross him the fuck out (but he tries them anyway because he wants to be nice).
rei is surprisingly more lightweight than max, even though people would assume the opposite since max is smaller, but rei's the person who has a few drinks and retreats to go to sleep at 10pm because he's tipsy enough already and ready to fall asleep on the table. max thinks it's adorable. that's me irl by the way (but i got no max thinking i'm cute for it smh)
some things about beyblade character names
there are a few names that keep popping up in fandom things that aren't the canon names of the characters and i find this just kind of curious, so i thought i'd look at some. (prefacing this by saying this is just explanatory canon stuff. do use whatever headcanon names you want regardless of what misdre is saying on the internet again)
kyouju/professor/chief/kenny: starting with a simple one but he somehow has exceptionally many different names. his actual name is manabu. (poor guy is never called this by anyone but his own mom)
takao's grandfather: it's ryuunosuke, as opposed to just ryu(u) which seems to be a fanon equivalent that i see used here and there. maybe ryuunosuke feels too long so people just chop it in half to make spelling easier, i dunno.
'brooklyn masefield' and 'mathilda alster/angelloni/some other version': they don't actually have canon surnames. i also use the fanon names for convenience in fics, but they are just that. the ones used for mathilda are actually so close to each other that i have wondered if there is some kind of source for them, though, since i've also seen japanese fanart using angelloni. but none of the manga material from aoki has this name on it for what i’ve seen.
volkov/vorkov/balkov: i know a good chunk of the fandom just calls him boris per the english dub but anyway. the 'balkov' spelling i believe also comes from the dub. in the original, his name is specifically spelled with the katakana formation for rendering letter v, which japanese innately doesn't have. whether it's supposed to be 'volkov' or 'vorkov' i don't actually have any other evidence on than volkov being by far a more common russian surname and given that all the other characters have john smith-esque names, i put my money on that one personally. but japanese uses r in place of l so it’s still dubious anyways for all i know.
rai and mao’s surname: it’s chen (or cheng) as written in the manga. the ‘chou’ version i believe comes from a weird misspelling in the anime, but there’s an occasion of DJ calling them chen there as well so i think that’s just the anime staff not knowing how to spell anything in latin alphabet (i mean, gouki is spelled ‘gouache’ in s2. it’s that bad) also ‘wong’ is an english dub fanon name i think, AFAIK not many characters had dub canon surnames
sergey's surname: it's rybakov. i believe a fanon version is petrov and the reason it's been used is that aoki only fairly recently called him sergey rybakov in the manga.
garland's surname: i see him called 'siebald' a lot and i don't know if that's from the english dub, but in the original it's.... well it's something else, frankly i haven't been able to figure out which real name it's supposed to be but it's 'shettobaruto' in japanese. zetbalt? schetbalt????
olivier's surname: it's bohringer. the ‘boulanger' fanoning i guess has just come from people who don't know either french or japanese very well going 'it kinda looks like this so i’ll go with it’, but bohringer and boulanger are actually pronounced differently and aoki confirmed bohringer in a bday art for olivier. and sometimes he somehow gets called ‘polanski’ and i can’t begin to explain why olivier would be called a pole but.
also, not a character name but anyway, the chinese team name in g-revolution: byakko/the white tiger is báihǔ in mandarin, the team name is that plus a -zu at the end which probably indicates the plural -s from english. japanese makes no difference between the fu and hu syllables which is why it’s technically spelled baifuuzu. lesson of the day is that it takes a bit of knowledge to tread the wild world that’s non-japanese names and words spelled in japanese because the system goes by how the words are pronounced according to japanese phonetics (and it’s crazy yes)
that's the ones i could think of. again, this is more like, for anyone who's interested or has wondered about some. not out here to judge people.
last for the headcanon meme! i got no art for this so i just. well i dunno look at this cute old reimax.
💕 Family headcanon:
i've talked about max's family in many of these but hmm what else. charlotte is born in japan and she's a lot more asian-passing than max ever was as a kid. max absolutely adores her and he's the best big brother ever and always protects her from bullies and teaches her to play all the best games. he's young at heart forever so it doesn't matter that they got a. what. 13 years age difference
rei's family gives me a headache and i much preferred headcanoning him an orphan. i wanted to think he was raised by the chens and that's why mao and rai are like his siblings but then canon was like hmm, no! alright then. in my dreams (read: AUs) he's still an orphan tho a more serious family headcanon: his mother is the most beautiful lady ever in the byakko clan and SINCE WE DON'T HAVE NAMES FOR HIS PARENTS WHICH I AM NOT AT ALL SALTY ABOUT i'd want to think she also has a plant-related name like rei's means the plum tree. maybe xiulan (beautiful + orchid) or something like that. maybe part of why rei prides his hair so much is that it's the same as his mother's. he takes after her 100% in looks. rei's dad, i don't give a fuck he's just some dude. watch me ship her with judy over his dad any day not so serious family headcanon: rei's got a zillion little siblings which is the real reason he yeeted the village as soon as he could because he was made to look after them 24/7
then. both together. well the cursed fact is that a long time ago some anon asked me about a reimax lovechild and i made one and i maybe kind of think about them every now and then. would totally re-design them and all now in present day but. mm yeah. i'm not even into characters having children in general, but when you have an OTP for long enough. well
this was the last one! here's a list of all the earlier ones (again, based on this post):

i rarely derive character headcanons from my own life but here's one (which @kinomiya told me to post. dunno how seriously. but i did it)
whenever max is outside japan, so like for the first 10+ years of his life at least, he has to deal with nobody knowing how to spell or pronounce his surname. all day long. every day. when he gets a bit older he becomes extremely self-conscious about it because "mizuhara" is so long and sits so poorly in any non-japanese-speaker's mouth, plus it feels like just the name alone plastered anywhere is like automatically revealing something private about him to anyone who sees it because it immediately reveals he's not just your regular white american. but he's very white-passing which adds an extra layer of confusion for people who see it in connection to his face and he feels like he always has to explain himself, which he doesn't want to do because it's a pretty humiliating experience in the first place to feel like you have to somehow explain your existence to other people all the time.
so he usually opts out to introduce himself as just max. like when he meets someone new who shakes his hand and introduces themselves by full name. he's like "i'm …..max :)" or if he does end up saying his surname too, it always seems to carry too much weight, and he pronounces it too carefully because somehow he wants it to sound authentically japanese instead of like an english-speaker saying a japanese name half-assedly because idek. (i mean, hdek. he doesn't even know)
when he attends school in the states, he gets idiotic comments on the name from other students. stuff like HOW CAN THERE BE THAT MANY SYLLABLES IN A NAME LOLOLOL. only teachers can actually tell it's japanese. generally people ignore it though, maybe to avoid making awkward generalisations
in the era of snail mail still being a thing, he's received mail with all sorts of variations. the most "interesting" ones are letters from his american relatives that feature some abomination of the name and he has to wonder how even his cousins can't be bothered to check it. or ask. he suspects the relatives too are a bit embarrassed about not knowing how to spell it. (as for how they would actually misspell it, i don't really have ideas ready because, i'm not an english speaker so i can't actually put it together in my brain how a native might spell mizuhara by ear. do share your ideas)
but it's a pain in the ass for even himself to spell sometimes. every time he makes a typo while typing it, he feels a special kind of shame for it because it's like, even i can't write my own fucking name, and what if someone saw that just now. it's much faster in japanese of course, just two kanji. but, and this is another headcanon, max isn't as accustomed to writing japanese so especially after not using it in a long time, it takes a couple of very embarrassing seconds to switch the alphabet gear in his brain.
and. well this one max may take better than i personally do. the knowledge that there very likely isn't anyone else in the world with the same name. being unique is cool and all but there comes a point when you just feel too singled out. also, fitting in one culture/community with your first name, and a different one with your surname, but never both at the same time. it's simultaneously cool and mentally and socially crippling.
that's it. that's the headcanon
