Family farmers are working class people, and their small businesses matter.

If we value sustainable food in this country, we need to break up the monopoly that huge factory farms have and thereby enable the smaller, cleaner, more humane farmers to thrive.

when people deny that sugar is addictive by saying that they “quit” added sugar by not putting sugar in their food or similar, and say that  “it can’t be addictive because they didn’t experience any withdraw symptoms”, I’m like bro. canned pees, ketchup, and salsa alone have (usually) about 4-6 g+ of added sugar alone (usually in teaspoon or tablespoon serving sizes). of course you don’t experience withdraws, its in almost every food you eat. you haven't really quit.... you’ve only quit the added sugar that they want you know about.

So I told my husband about a documentary I watched about garlic and how there are two huge producers in the U.S. that are basically at war with each other and how Chinese prisoners are forced to peel garlic for like 16 hours a day and their fingernails fall off and they have to use their teeth ( also to sell in the U.S.)

Now every time I buy garlic he says "why did you buy that blood garlic"

I'm so glad I found him and married him.
