Whoever decided that Female Bilbo Baggins needed to be called "Bilba" should be hunted for sport

I don't regularly judge what other people write unless it's a literal crime and i don't think it's something you should have to stop(the genderbending) but when there are fics without tags to exclude them it sucks

I can't express how much disgust i feel at Bilbo being the only one genderbent in these, and how pathetic "she" is written, because there is no way anyone actually thinks Bilbo being a girl would take the bullshit right outa this hobbit

Why make a character a girl just to make them submissive and shy? I will shake you like maracas to loosen those braincells

Ok... Hear me out. I absolutely LOVE the fem!Bilbo AU. It is one of my favorite AUs in this fandom. I really enjoy imagining fem!Bilbo to look like Jennie Runk. That is all.

Okay but let me defend bilba baggins with bloody teeth because yes some people write feminine bilbo out of a desire to straightwash bagginshield - that is absolutely true and I don't want to pretend it isn't

but also some of the best and most nuanced explorations of gender I've seen in fanfics have been through bilba. in a media with famously few women, so many authors have been able to use bilba as a vehicle to explore beautiful stories and express deep, nuanced narratives. so often I see put of pocket derision for bilba and nothing makes me more mad because if you can't appreciate how some authors have chosen to explore culture, gender, romance, and their pwn experiences, just say that instead of being a huge dick about the whole thing

tldr shut the fuck up about bilba baggins - complain about the wubbification of bilbo all you want, but I Will start chewing on your bones if you drag her into this without due cause
