August 2022 // my favorite days
Update / Reintroduction
Hi everyone!! I just started a new semester and my second year of undergrad, so I thought I’d post an update and little reintroduction.
About Me:
My name is Megan
I’m 19
Second-year biochemistry student
I love Harry Styles, my cat, and my dog
Current Classes:
Organic Chemistry I
Genetics
Intro Chemistry Lab
Philosophy of the Arts
Inquiry-Based Lesson Design
Current Research:
I’m currently (still) working on a research project studying stress response genes in the nematode C. elegans. Last semester, I did the molecular cloning for my transgenic “glow worm” and am in the process of actually making my “glow worm” right now.
Goals for the Semester:
Not getting overwhelmed by my classes
Finish my research project (or find a way to continue in the spring)
Enjoy things being semi- back to normal on campus
this essay plan’s color scheme was inspired by spring in the desert (which is making my allergies go nuts but it’s okay)🌸
3/4/17 // Today was the first official day of studying for exams, I managed to cover the whole of Viruses and Virology sub-section today so I’m pretty proud of myself. Spending this evening watching Netflix and playing with my doggos
09Jul22 // completely immersed in my summer research! I haven’t had much of a break since the transition from the spring semester into my research but I’m enjoying my time nonetheless! I’m mastering techniques I’ll need in the future and expanding my resume. I’m so proud of the work I’ve done to get to this point in my life. I’m living my childhood dreams of working in a lab and using so many different kinds of chemicals. If 10 year old me saw myself now I know she’d be super impressed :’)
19Aug22 // Made the most delicious caramelized onion crustless quiche! My Dad gave me a bunch (and I mean a bunch) of his old cooking magazines since he saw how much I enjoyed reading them! I’ve made it my goal to try 2 new recipes a month, next I will attempt to make bread!
Only 3 more days until the fall semester begins, I’m a bit anxious and excited to get back into the routine of work + classes + studying. This summer has been so busy I feel like I barely had a chance to fully enjoy it, nonetheless I’m glad it was productive and full of research!
