Medicine of Life || Faith & Elektra

              "Dude, I'm just gonna come at you honest, here? You're acting weird and I'm not here for it." and, yet, Faith's letting herself be led away from the party by an overgrown boy scout. The last few months have been hard, and there's a lot she's learned about her new compatriots in the time she's been with them --- one of those lessons? If you're going to trust anyone, trust Steve Rogers.

She doesn't, though, because he might be keeping in the crackling excitement of a child about to receive a Christmas present, but she's learned to read these things in his expression rather than any overt action and it doesn't bode well, "Listen, if this is like a birthday surprise, I should probably warn you... maybe no jump scares, 'cause I got a rep for getting kinda stabby, so."

              Ooof, I'm here! If the restaurant doesn't get super busy and I don't need to clock back in, I get a long break today so I'm going to try to get out some of those birthday bash starters I owe.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time || Buffy & Faith

               So few guests at this event even know who Faith is that, mostly, she has the luxury of meandering around Avengers Tower without being bothered. A lot of new people, a lot of big egos on display. Thinly disguised animosity between super people who've been rivals and enemies, even lovers, over the years. Comes out in backhanded comments or a few too many drinks.

She kind of gets it. The outskirts of the core group in Sunnydale were scary and lonely, and not something Faith is likely to forget, but here? These fucking actual adults. The folks not important enough to be on Nick Fury's super team are just bitter and it's sad in a way Faith's brain can't even flip and turn into a joke.

     It's in the thick of it all, trying to ease away from the sad lives of the wallflowers Peter and Steve invited to pad out a guest list that would've been fairly small without them, that Faith runs into the one person in the fucking world he didn't expect to see. She half-rolls her eyes as she approaches, because this? Reeks of Steve fucking Rogers, "Wow. Thing about Cap is he doesn't get nuance, sometimes. He even tell you what this little shindig was for?"

A Little Air || Dean & Faith

          It's stuffy in there. Stifling. She feels stifled. The booze is free, though, and Thor's in there showing off with that stupid hammer so no one's going to miss her if she disappears.

She slips out of the party and onto the terrace, or whatever the hell it is out there, because the view of Manhattan is astounding and because she's entirely forgotten in that instance that she's gone and quit smoking for the fiftieth time, and doesn't have a pack handy.

                  There's a u-shaped balcony jetting out into the skyline of this architectural nightmare, and Faith finds herself wandering it's edge. She rests folded arms on the rail of a glass divider --- you'd think heights like this would scare the shit out of her, given her history with rooftops and high windows, but there's something peaceful about being so high over the city. She's not alone, though, and she doesn't take her eyes off the sunset to ask, "Not a fan of crowds, either?"

Rumors of Your Death || Bonnie & Faith

                 It's been a weird night. Faith's not really used to being the center of attention, at least not in a positive light, and she's a hell of a lot less comfortable with it than she thought she'd be. Not that she spent much time thinking about it.

Half the folks at this shindig are strangers. To Faith, at least, but then she's new to this world and they seem to be a big deal, here. She knows her core Avengers by sight but doesn't really know them. Steve. Clint. Bruce... the ones who made an effort were effortless but most of them are so closed off that she’s finding it harder than it should be to connect with anyone else and, frankly, feeling it.  The act of being out of place at your own birthday party, but it's not the worst thing that could've happened -- at least there's an open bar, and it's at the bar where Faith hears a voice all too familiar to her.

      It's a job of work to find Bonnie in the crowd, but she does and leans against the bar beside her, "Whoa, since when are you still alive? Not that I'm not happy to see you, Girl. Just been hearin' rumors. You know how it is."
