On Chainsaw Man's ending...
Feels strange to be striving to live as a generally chill person who respects others while building their own life in this hellscape of a world and then seeing explosive reactions from supposed fans that turn on Fujimoto with very bad-faith and unsympathetic takes. I guess social media at large rewards these kinds of loud and ragebaiting takes. I've been ragebaited into writing my own thoughts about this.
I've always wanted good things to happen to Denji since the beginning so this is it for me, really.
I've been following since it started in 2018 and haven't done a total rereading of it since the last chapter was released. So I've been searching around for a few opinion pieces on the ending from people who know how to engage with the writing beyond what was presented + have remembered previous events.
wardevil on bsky had a great attitude with talking about Fujimoto's writing style at large and how even this ending had intention. War is bad, but inevitable and eternal, and we will all remain subservient dogs to the system. The US war machine is the single greatest threat to the world. Yet despite our circumstances we live on to eat good food and enjoy each others company because we can.
Also loved seeing this post from xsoldier talking about how Power and Denji's promise was fulfilled actually!
Leaving the end of the post with this fun bit from pepperochau.
