if you listen to celia cruz one of her songs that i hear most at parties is la vida es un carnaval and one of my personal faves is la negra tiene tumbao
okay i’m gonna check these out! thank you :* but i have a question for my spanish speaking folks, preferable native speakers, is la negra/el negro a rude/derogatory way of referring to black ppl in spanish or is it just the Word like saying “black people” and it’s not offensive, bc i know it’s the color black that it originates from but saying n*gro (the english word) personally makes me very uncomfortable - so i don’t say it - and i’ve seen many black ppl express that they also dislike that word. i guess what im asking is, is that a normal word to refer to black people or is there a politer way of saying it, like the connotation?
