Forever Flourish
My hands are branched from the stem facing sky. Cloudy mood. Heaven shares my sorrow as I cry.
Please don’t shoot nor axe me from my roots. I’ve already lost enough since all my resources you continously loot.
I carry my pride, my crown is nappy.
The wind blows but my head is heavy.
Rain rinses my blood off the floor.
My eyes are determined, yet teary.
You cut me but you can’t tear me.
You cut me but you can’t tear me, down!
You shake me and my leaves fall.
You cracked up my bark. I’m still haunted by the barks of the dogs that chased me in the dark.
After all this, I still stand. My wounds heal, so I still shine. I walk with pride and still smile.
You make me laugh! You say: stop resisting when in fact what you mean is, stop existing.
You can’t exist with me either. My home is the backbone of mother earth.
My soil gave our existence it’s birth. I know you are aware and afraid of my worth.
So despite all the lynchings, the burnings, and the lashes, we sow, we grow and rise from the ashes.
W e’ll continue bearing fruits and our fruits shall nourish! Oeur flowers shall forever bloom and flourish.

Because if we don’t, who will?
It's sad that this is our reality and indeed our own battle to fight. Normally i keep posts like this on my story, but i'm kinda fed up with the silence. As a black girl who grew up in a very white city, i made a lot of white friends. Lord knows i love you guys, but the silence on this topic needs to be broken. Most of you will stand up against sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. Every injustice in the world except for that against black people. And as your "friend" it hurts to see the silence. Many of you knew about how our windows got smashed in by racist neighbours. Or when another black person got killed by police i'd come to school heavyhearted and tell you what happened. I told you stuff like this not so you can pity me, cause what will pity do? I let you be aware of stuff like this because there's always this voice in me telling me that one day you too will fight for my people. But to my disappointment. There's only a few. A very little few. And i thank them a lot for their effort. I'm not asking you to become worldleaders so that you can change the world drastically behind the Oval, no. I'm asking you to educate yourselves and others. To share awareness when possible. To not completely ignore what's going on just because you're a bit uncomfortable talking about it. Walking down the street knowing there's always potential individual who'd hurt you because of your skincolour, that's uncomfortable. I've never done this but today was a breaking point. People close to me know how sensitive this is for me. So this is my little effort to spark something into you guys. Do whatever you please to do with it. I'm done here.

Last night at the gym (re-education on racism and how you play apart)
It’s been long night, but i need to write this to get it off my chest. I get to the gym about 1am. Young white dude come up to me (won’t name) to chat with me. He normally ask for some life advice or just to chop it up. Today his energy was different. We started to talk about his girlfriend. He explained to me how that felt he was settling and went on state she say “nigger” on occasions. He then say he yell at her to refrain from using the word, which she questions reason why she not allowed to use the word. He continue to explain to he tried explaining to her constantly and it express it’s not right due the historical treatment receive even to this day. He finds racism is completely against his character. While I was breaking down his girlfriend (a racist) and his relationship. I asked him “why are you with her if racism is against your character”? He said “i see the good in her and potential” and reply “but said you told her to stop saying, explained to her the multiple times, it’s against your character, and she still doing it. Why are you with her”? I could see the gears turn as he began to realize he was making excuse for racism. I explained “your significant other, whomever that may be is a reflection of morals and character. where you fall short at, A real partner will never let fall and lift you up where you truly need to be. Not what they want you to be. That includes not compromising your morals”. I continue to explain “you have reach to a point of complacent nature with this women whom a racist and got trophy husband to continue racist stereotype where y’all only worry about your world and y’all can be as racist as y’all wanna be”. He replied “ I’m not racist though”. I said “your racist by continuing to be with someone whom compromise your moral and value, continue to use word nigger as social club phrase for the rich, and allowed yourself to be used as pawn to make excuse for this behavior because your optimism and stay. You are part of white fraternity that does not believe in the values they keep. They draft pick y’all and flex themselves as money clubs. Showing the spoils of their new business partnership (you). All the while you barely noticing the slight conformity that is happening to you. Yes your a racist”. He slowly realized every word was true and wasn’t trying bash him for being the in the situation but understand and realize he was apart of the problem, which we then had a dialogue on solutions. My white allies, friend, brothers it’s not that we hate y’all when we call you racists but it is hard word to get you understand the severity of systematic oppression your apart of. We appreciate it that some of you don’t see race, but our distinction of character. Tho, it means nothing if you forgo that for complacency within your privilege. Which you will be looked as racist and part of the problem. Stop saying my ancestors did it and why should i be punished? Nobody punishing and the fact you wanna be victims infuriates us where we jus give up. We are telling you here’s a 300yr problem you must acknowledge. That includes false date provided, the stereotypes, false sentencing, blind eye, fuck it, the body of America period. Instead of just talking, be about what you preached
