Festival Sponsors Britain’s Blues Night of the Year!
Upton Blues Festival is sponsoring Britain’s ‘Blues Night of the Year’, the 3rd UK Blues Challenge, on Saturday 12 November. Featuring Dove & Boweevil, Kaz Hawkins, Rebecca Downes and Wille & the Bandits competing to represent the UK at the European & International Blues Challenges in 2017, the event is to be held at The Robin 2 in the West Midlands.
“We were pleased to get the opportunity to sponsor the UK Blues Challenge night,” said Oliver Carpenter, Trustee of Upton Blues Festival. “As Britain’s biggest free blues festival and Festival of the Year 2015 & 2016 in the British Blues Awards, Upton shows how live blues can be mainstream and attract all ages and types of people to revel in the atmosphere it creates. With this year’s challenge night being held in our heartland we wanted to make sure we were supporting the UK Blues Federation on the night.”
Attracting over 20,000 visitors from across the country the festival contributes almost £1M to the economy of Upton upon Severn, Worcestershire. Featuring over 130 performances over the weekend, with every gig free to attend and every performer paid, Upton Blues Festival happens on the third weekend of July.
“Our Committee feels that the UK Blues Federation has an important role of bringing together the performers, venues, clubs, festivals, and media interested in blues music and promoting all aspects of blues to new audiences and new people right across the country” Oliver concluded. “The line up at the UK Blues Challenge is testament to the quality, vibrancy and broad spectrum of blues in Britain and spreading the word by bringing the best together is good for everyone who wants to build blues in all its wondrous variation.”
