1 Ok so I'm gonna sound Schizo because I can't find it but I'm not spending all night looking for one sentence, BUT, Mason mentions some reason Bob doesn't have a girlfriend, and rumors travel fast in the locker room. I SWEAR IT HAPPENED I READ THE BOOK TWICE.

2 Okay so a more obvious reason is that Mason is the only one allowed to call him Robert.

Mason is also gay

tex final book review:

- tex calls his english teacher miss carlson so we can all rest easy knowing ponyboy curtis didn’t marry a woman <3

- always been excited about the tex & mark half-siblings concept; did not know how the two of them meeting each other ends; it doesn’t shock me in the slightest tho (also did it imply mark tried to kill bryon too but couldn’t make himself do it so he ran?)

- either bob, johnny, or mason are Not Into Girls and I can’t really decide the what or who of that the sibling named “Blackie” (no way that is their real name? what? why was this never elaborated on?) who moved to San Francisco kinda seems obvious

- reusing the names bob and johnny (Johnny C!!!!!) and making them brothers and soc-adjacent was a Choice and as stupid of a choice as I think it was I also think it’s genius in a way that their characters almost got “revived” in a sense and got to experience a somewhat better life (I’m sure I’ll elaborate on this at some point)

- in the same vein when it said that Pop was in Dallas of all places that just made me giggle (I’m so sold on the Mark/Dally/Tex brothers au that @your-unfriendlyghost has that I will NEVER be normal about this line)

- rip Darry Curtis you would be SOOOOO jealous of Mason’s ending

- I loved it. I also binge read it in under two hours so I definitely did not keep track of the plot At All <3

Treasures of Mexico are a Medway, UK band made up of musicians who have played in numerous bands over the years.  The most notable former band - to me at least - is The Dentists (another Medway band).  

Treasures of Mexico rocks harder than many Dentists releases - there's less jangle and more distortion in the vein of The Wedding Present or Cinerama.  

UK label Spinout Nuggets is releasing this.  The label has also released music by Sacramento band Soft Science, Billy Childish, and Jetstream Pony.

Precious Recordings (London) is giving us another BBC session gem. The Dentists were part of the explosion of British pop in the 1980s. Bob Collins' guitar is what hooked me many years ago.

For my money, the version of "Both Sides Now" is the real winner here - it really sounds like something The Bats could have recorded wonderfully. Some aspects of The Woodentops also come to mind whenever I listen to The Dentists.

Bob Collins is still hard at work releasing work as Treasures of Mexico.
