Thanks for shutting up that ignorant person. I'm SO damn tired of the "all people with bpd are abusive" bullshit. Sure, some of us do have at one point or another abusive behaviors, perhaps more than others, but there's also plenty of neurotypical people who are grossly abusive. I've had friends who were neurotypical and abused me a lot, and invalidated all the horrible things they did to me by telling me 'it's my bpd and not them' which ruined everything, when even my therapist told me otherwis

ive seen more nt people abuse bpd people than bpd people abuse literally anyone ever. some people just... don’t know how mental illness really works and refuse to except that nts can be abusive too.

my best friend's girlfriend had another girlfriend whom she dated for a hot minute (best friend's girlfriend is polyamorous, which is not the problem here), the issue is that the other girlfriend uses her mental illness as an excuse for her emotionally abusive behavior, and my best friend's girlfriend is now dating her again and no one is happy with this arrangement besides the abuser. it's people like her who use their mental illness as an excuse and not a reason that are stigmatizing it all.

People seem to forget the whole idealization and devaluing symptoms. When you idealize someone they become your favourite person. If that person does anything you perceive as bad or wrong you devalue them and the cycle continues. It tends to happen more with the people you care about most as opposed to people you could not be bothered with. Which also does contributes to intense/ unstable relationships

FP is still a valid term and always will be on this blog.

most of the people on here probly don't even have bpd, they are just obsessed with the idea of a fp which isn't even the main part of what bpd is! like why is everybody idolizing the idea of a favourite person. it's not cute its emotionally draining

i’ve definitely got it unless the two doctors who diagnosed me were wrong. yes, having an fp is probably the worst thing to ever happen with this disorder and, while it may not be the biggest or main part of bpd, it still ends up being a huge part of it. that’s why there are so many posts about it. you know what else there are posts about? splitting, imprinting, coping, suicidal thoughts, attention wanting, apathy, empathy, mood swings, drug use, abuse, manipulative behavior, co-morbidity, intrusive thoughts, narcissism, etc.

Yeah, it can be used lightly, but still. FP is a valid thing within the BPD community.

[1/?] so. why is that one anon so hellbent on trying to invalidate a bpd-related term? as if it's only valid if and ONLY if it's a Medically Recognized term? and i mean, god forbid the community become creative and create a wonderful term to easily -

[2/2] - and effortlessly describe their symptoms, rather than having to describe each symptom, right? like oh my goddd. this isn’t really a controversial thing and its not a big deal at all, i can’t believe someone is so bent over a TERM f f s.          

Not sure to be honest! Regardless, an FP is more or less a more common way to say ‘Person of current idealization’ which is medically recognized as a symptom. Willow and I were talking about this at lunch today and she said ‘My life made so much more sense once I learned what an fp was.’ and to be honest I couldn’t agree more. I’m sure most of my followers feel the same way!

If people with BPD/ASPD can avoid taking responsibility for their actions because of their mental illness, can all people avoid taking responsibility because all actions are responses to chemicals in the brain?
