And we complete our trifecta of Mighty Morphin’ Megazord toys with the re-release of Titanis from Season 3. He is pretty yellow at this point, and has almost as much wear-and-tear as my MMPR Megazord does.
Oh, here’s a fun thing I noticed while I was giving this guy a once-over:
“DX Beast Knight God King Brachion” It’s funny all the things that fly over your head while you’re a kid.
The Good: (Toy:) He looks cool, and is really big. He comes with a second chest piece for the Dragonzord/Dragon Caesar. Which, by the way, is a totally different sculpt:
You can also see how they changed the stickers up pretty well here.
(Stickers:) They are much closer to the show now, have a good sheen to them, and are no longer falling off.
The Bad: (Toy:) It’s a brick. You can barely call what it does transforming. Mine’s electronics are busted, I think. I haven’t tested them in years. They might now be. Also, you have to pop his back to move his neck at all.
(Stickers:) While the ones that fit in gaps fit well, a lot of them don’t. The big ones on his sides, the ones on his neck, and a few others are not cut well, which sucks because most of them are big important ones. It’s hard to find where the red triangles go. Oh, and the red stickers on his shoulders? One of them is silver detailed and the other is white.
The Details: A bit of paint patching, a bit of sanding and filing, new stickers. I also put some black on the tips of the cannons, since they’re, y’know, cannons. I feel like I end up doing that a lot on my Sentai toys...
The End: Unless I actually do end up picking up those black repaints, like, years from now, this is all of the robots from MMPR/Jyuranger. They’re a neat piece of history. I like them. But, sad to admit, I do own better toys than them. It’s depressing to think since they’re my childhood toys, but it’s just how it is.
Overall, don’t buy him? Unless you find him cheap or if you own everyone else? Like I said, he’s a brick, and you can find less bricky bricks for better prices. Still, it’s cool to have a giant sauropod toy, though the fact that Gabutyra is bigger diminishes the impact.
