a Mason x MC x Nate love triangle I’ll never write, so my pal @agentmasonjars​ wrote it for me. 

Wallflower Idea Seed 

Mason doesn’t do love triangles. Really he doesn’t even do love - it’s a foreign concept he never much paid attention to. So he stepped down from his egregious flirtations with the detective the minute Nate’s feelings for her bubbled up. Like a good friend, a good brother, he backed down. So why is she still in his head. Why does being in the same room as her relax him so. Why does he find himself willingly taking every opportunity to spend a moment of solitude with her?

He’ll never say he has feelings for the detective or that he wants to enter the ring for her affections - he doesn’t even UNDERSTAND them. Better to leave it all to NAte. He knows what to do in these situations. Mason didn’t “let her go” he stood to the sideline. he could never let her go but he also has too much loyalty for Nate to try and compete. Especially when he’s not as forthcoming with his feelings as his counterpart who wears his heart on his sleeve.

but then there’s the sound of her laugh, beating of her heart, adrenaline coursing though her veins. And then Mason has to push the same delightful responses coming from Nate from his radar. He doesn’t want to interfere on his friends privacy. But he also CANT help but tune into her.

time passes and things don’t change. not really. Mc still jokes around with him like banter and sex jokes but doesn’t act on them. Not anymore. Not anymore could mason read into their flirtations, and yet he still does. He knows she’d never invite him back up to her bedroom anymore but he still hopes the weight of whatever they shared is still in place
