The Three Tomes: An Indie Animatic Pilot : Currently on Youtube and Indie Series in the works. Created by @breanimator ( Bre Navickas) Tammy Harris was just an ordinary 17 year old girl. Then one night while making a short horror film with her best friend Sia, she gains the powers of a witch from an ancient tome with spirits inside. What gave you inspiration for The Three Tomes?🌟🌟🌟

Howdy! My inspiration for The Three Tomes comes from a few places. Also if you've got Three Tomes asks you can ask me over on THE THREE TOMES BLOG HERE I guess I should probably have that info in a pinned post haha. Anyway, yeah my inspiration for The Three Tomes comes from a desire to make something that reflected the kind of stories I love. I love romance, adventure, vampire fiction and YA melodrama. Growing up I was super into stuff like Twilight, Fruits Basket (loved the reboot), Scooby-Doo, Warm Bodies, Blade, Bram Stocker's Dracula, Van Hellsing, Sailor Moon, Card Captors, magical girl anime .. shoujo anime and manga in general. But I just .. as a Black femme person I didn't see myself in it as much as I loved it. I was also just creating random ocs and drawing things and I also was big into rp in the 2010s here on tumblr so I loved just making stories and such. Fast forward to my life working professionally in animation for awhile and feeling a drive to just make something of my own after... seeing the industry i work in in shambles and being unemployed, pregnant and creatively stagnant... I decided to just go ahead and pull the trigger on telling a story that's been with me since 2017/2018-ish. My main influences were Twilight, New Moon in particular, Card Captor Sakura, and 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo with a dash of Sailor Moon and Fruits basket thrown into the mix. Card Captor Sakura in terms of the magical girl genre i think is the inspiration that can be felt the heaviest. I loved watching it every Saturday morning and after school on Kids WB growing up. I read the manga when I was younger as well and I'm a fan of CLAMP's artwork so much. Twilight has mega issues......, but the melodrama of the supernatural romance is my bread and butter.

I'm also a big fan of Interview with the Vampire ( movie and current AMC show) and was inspired by Anne' Rice and Bram's works as well.

My inspiration for the creation of my story comes from the desire of a 32 year old black queer millenial mom who didn't see themselves in the fiction they loved and wanted to tell a fun story of black joy and what it's like to process grief and change in your life through a fun fantastical romantasy adventure. Black kids deserve to go to narnia" is the phrase I've seen . In the fantasy , YA , adventure genre... we as Black folks aren't represented as much and in the moments we do get that representation it's always challenged as an issue. The Three Tomes is for me, and for the Black kids that love vampries, romance and adventures. I hope it finds that audience and I hope they enjoy it, because I want to tell this story more than anything. Sorry this was rambling and written very train of thought haha.

Happy black history month.

Hi my name is Bre. I'm a 32 year old nonbinary mom working in the animation industry . Currently I'm at Disney TV Animation on Sofia the first Royal Magic. But I've worked on other stuff like Proud family louder and Prouder and Minnie Bowtoons. I'm a very shy and anxious person. .but even so I decided to .. in the wake of so many black and brown shows ending or being told they'll be cancelled ..decided last year to combine my love of the Magical Girl genre and Vampire Romance.

My Indie pilot animatic The Three Tomes: A Teen girl named Tammy gains the powers of a witch from an ancient tome with 13 spirits inside of it. Now that they're released she must capture them again and face off against a mysterious foe that sends its vampire minions after her and her friends. However she'll have to try not to fall in love with two vampires along the way. A queer YA romantasy adventure set in the 2010s in the Midwest.

I wanted to make a story about a bi Black teen , the two queer vampire boys that love her and have their own tension....and dealing with change and grief in your life. Something that reflected what I would have liked to see because Black folks are not prominent in the YA space. Black people deserve to go on adventures and have their whimsical adventures and be in every genre. I'm working on episode 2 and have comics and illustrations in the mean time to explore the world more.
