Watching this interview with Thomas from Monte Carlo makes me so sad, he was so happy to talk about the show. And he had nothing but good things to say about all the cast and crew and now they’re acting like he was never even there. It upsets me so much that someone can put their heart and soul into building something just to have it ripped away for no good reason. I’m so tired of seeing that happen to people I care about.
I refuse to believe that this man has anger management issues, anger issues at all!
I totally agree! Thomas has always seemed so nice tbh. And his tweets have been so sweet since he got back on twitter! I do believe he was defending himself from Virgil and as for the earlier incident, he was angry over safety issues during a car scene, which seems like a very legitimate reason to be angry to me. He never should have been fired and CBS has pissed off a ton of fans, me included. I don’t think I want to watch a CBS show ever again.
Thomas Gibson now has an outlet to speak to fans following his firing from 'Criminal Minds.'
“Gibson seems determined to make an effort to treat fans of Criminal Minds with respect.” He has ALWAYS treated fans with respect, those of us who’ve been fans of his for a while know this. Which is something that makes him better than Virgil Williams, who’s been rude and disrespectful to fans. Virgil should have been the one fired, not Thomas!
I’m so happy that Thomas is back on Twitter, I didn’t think he’d ever go back there all things considered. And I pity the fool who would ever try to send him any hate, because like I saw someone say on Twitter, we’d all come down on their head like a ton of bricks. You don’t mess with him unless you want to deal with a whole lot of pissed off fans!
Just an idea: could we maybe start contacting all those spoiler sites? You know, Tvline, EW, I think most entertainment sites have spoiler sections you can e-mail. If we send them messages about how we’re worried Hotch won’t get a decent send-off, they might actually communicate that to the CM people. Because petitions or angry tweets are easy to disregard as the actions of delusional fangirls, but an actual reporter asking a reasonable question about how they’re going to deal with the character, that might get a response. They’ll also be able to convey a more nuanced message than what fandom screaming across the void/internet usually amounts to.
I’ve already sent one to something called InsideLine at TVline, I think. But they’ve got plenty of other spoiler columns and as I said there are loads of sites and blogs like that. The more people are asking about it, the better, right? I do think it’s best to say nothing about what actually happened to TG though, just focus on the show and Hotch.
Just let everyone know we at least want to say goodbye to the character.
This is going to be another long and personal post, but I’ve seen people on here being pretty open about this sort of thing and I think this is important.
I finally went to see a therapist for the first time a couple of weeks ago. From what I told her she thinks that I’ve had undiagnosed depression since I was a child and that I probably have some form of anxiety. Of course I’ve only had one meeting with her so I’m not officially diagnosed with anything yet, but I’ve struggled on and off with feelings of worhtlessness, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, and body image issues for close to 20 years, which is most of my life. But an interesting thing happened roughly 5-6 years ago when I really got into Criminal Minds and fell in love with Hotch. All of that went away. I felt better about myself than I had in a few years. I had more energy and even started exercising on a regular basis. I didn’t think about offing myself anymore. I didn’t self-harm. I ate healthier and had a normal sleeping schedule for once. For the first time in my life I started thinking that maybe I’m not just a fat, ugly lump and that someone might actually find me desirable. CM and Hotch did that for me and I will forever be grateful for that. I will forever be grateful to Thomas Gibson for bringing the character of Aaron Hotchner to life with his amazing acting, for being such an amazing father to his kids, and for being so dedicated to his job. As far as I’m concerned he had a big hand in improving my life and my mental and emotional state in that time. That is a big part of why his firing has upset me so much and why I’m hell-bent on defending him. That’s the first thing I want to say.
But then I stopped watching CM for a few years and everything went downhill again. All of that crap came back and I wound up unemployed for the last couple years, having a couple jobs that only lasted a couple months. Only in the next week or so am I finally going to be starting a new job. I started watching CM again last summer and got back in the fandom probably last fall or so. My mental health hadn’t really improved this time, possibly because I’ve been unemployed and I now live by myself, making me feel very isolated. Being on tumbr hasn’t really helped that much because I have different views from most people on here about a lot of issues and that has also made me feel isolated. But an amazing thing has happened through this whole awful mess of Thomas being fired. It’s woken up the fighter in me. I’m now hell-bent on surviving. I’ve interacted with people on here more than I have since I got on here. I don’t feel isolated anymore. I feel united with everyone on here who loves Thomas. I have more energy despite not getting a lot of sleep and having almost zero appetite the past few days. My self-esteem is a whole lot better and I’m starting to love my body again. Despite how upset, stressed, and anxious I felt over the weekend because of this whole thing now I’m just determined to fight. This has reminded me that I’m not all those things I’ve been struggling with. Who I really am is a beautiful woman who’s 110% prepared to stand up and fight for those I care about. I’m a fighter. And I love every single one of you who’s also felt so devastated by all of this and is willing to stand up to CBS. Since I should be starting work soon my time on here is going to be more limited, but I’ll always be willing to talk to any of you on here. And I think this goes to show that good things can come from the bad things that happen to us, which is important to remember.

How do you feel about Shemar and his whole "Karma" rant? Do you think it was about TG?
I’m not sure if it was about TG. There’s also the fact that Shemar has just successfully sued a guest star for taking money from him, so it COULD be about that. I’ve always liked Shemar, but if it WAS about TG then I think it’s crap. The whole “good things happen to good people” thing is bullshit, good things happen to nasty people and bad things happen to decent people all the time. But like I said, I don’t know if it was about Thomas.
So, I’ve been thinking and: I’m fairly sure TPTB fired TG at the very last minute, because no one else at CM seemed to be aware of it.
1) One of those spoiler sites (TVline, I think) has an article about what will happen to Hotch after the whole TG thing, but really it’s just speculation. But! It’s speculation based on a conversation they had with Messer after the news about his suspension came out (it just wasn’t published until he’d already been fired). That’s when she talked about how he’ll be on assignment and it’ll pay off big later. The article then rightly questions if it still will. So, at that point, did Messer not know TG wasn’t coming back? That would mean the decision was made in the 24hrs after the news of his suspension breaking. That seems rushed. But she could have still been hoping, or maybe she wasn’t allowed to tell yet or maybe it will still pay off big but without Hotch.
2) A day or two before this mess got out, MGG shared that pic of them shooting the opening sequence with the caption ‘we’re back!’. Somehow I doubt he’d have so readily done that if he’d known it was barely going to be used, if at all. Especially considering the reason why. And he knew about the suspension, because that had obviously been going on already, so it’s just the definite dismissal he wouldn’t have known about. For that matter, why even shoot that credit sequence at all, if they’d already known?
3) Then there are TG’s statements. The one about his suspension mentions that he hopes they can ‘still work together as a team’, or something like that. If he (or his agent/manager/whoever) had had any idea he’d be fired the next day, would that have been in there?
So yeah, the evidence might be circumstantial, but I think we can assume this was a last minute decision. Which I get, because it must have been a difficult one, but on the other hand I can’t take that as a good sign for the show. It means they were in limbo those two weeks and couldn’t properly prepare either way. It’s only now that they know what they’re dealing with and that they can try to fix it.
