Lost & Found AU
Beth and Rio had once been close friends, their bond strengthened by the quiet connection they shared as she spent time in her wealthy parents’ home, while his family worked there. Rio was a year older, and when he turned 18 and Beth was 17, they experienced a brief, tender, but hot romance. But their happiness was short-lived as her parents disapproved vehemently, and their relationship was forcibly torn apart.
Tragedy struck when Rio was falsely accused of theft, an elaborate scheme crafted by Beth’s own parents. Despite his innocence, he was sentenced to prison, leaving Beth heartbroken and powerless. During these years, Beth was sent abroad to a private university in England. She wrote letters to Rio, and he never answered. Beth didn't know he was writing her letters, but they never reached her. All because of her parents.
When Rio was released after three long years, he chose silence, unwilling to reopen wounds. Beth continued her life in London, trying to rebuild herself, burying the pain and longing deep within her heart. Eight years slipped away, filled with memories and unanswered questions.
Then, destiny spun its thread.
Beth returned to Detroit for her wedding, to marry Dean Boland, the son of her father’s business partner, as her parents arranged. But fate had other plans. She encountered Rio again, and a flood of emotions surged.
The years apart hadn’t dulled their connection; if anything, it had only made their feelings more intense.
At first, blame tainted their reunion as each accusing the other of betrayal, until the truth unfurled. It was her parents who had schemed to keep them apart, destroying their love out of greed and control.
The revelation shattered the barriers between Beth and Rio, replacing pain with understanding and hope.
In the wake of the truth, Beth realized that her heart belonged with Rio.
They chose to leave behind the shadows of the past and, in the end, they chose happiness together.

A good person. No, you're way more interesting than that. You don't know me. I think I do. I don't drink Rosé. Can we get a Bourbon? On the rocks.”
