You know, there were a lot of reasons to dislike “The Time of the Doctor,” but it also has so many great character moments, particularly for Eleven.
Because Eleven has been trapped on Trenzalore for 300 long, agonizing years, taking the slow path. And he’s endured the slow aging and dying of everyone he’s grown to care about in the town of Christmas. This, just as much as the confession dial, is the Doctor’s own personal hell.
And then Clara comes to him, Clara who hasn’t aged, Clara who offers comfort and companionship and love, Clara who tells him you’ve done enough, it’s okay, come home.
But—
A little boy said, “I’ll wait”
And—
He broke a promise to a little girl, once. He said “five minutes” and those minutes turned into twelve years turned into 36 years turned into a whole lifetime.
And the Doctor, perhaps, is not brave enough, not resolved enough, to tell Clara no. But, knowing what he’ll have to endure, knowing the slow death he’s facing—
The Doctor goes back.
And the story of a little girl waiting in a garden comes to a close.
Missing scene from “Pond Life.” Well, not really a missing scene since I’m not sure how much the Doctor knew in “Asylum of the Daleks,” but close enough.
“Doctor—” Amy pauses, hesitates.
The Doctor spins. “Yes, Pond?”
“Doctor, you’re my best friend, yeah?”
“Yeah, ‘course I am. But you don’t even need to ask that. Why?”
Amy ignores him, for the moment. She swallows. “Doctor, I told you when I thought—when I was pregnant. Before I told Rory, even.”
Something dark flickers in the Doctor’s eyes. “Yeeeess,” he says, drawing out the word. “Amelia, I—”
Amy cuts him off, trying not to lose her nerve. “This isn’t about that. I mean, it is. But it isn’t.”
“That clears it all up,” the Doctor mutters, and she smacks him.
“But, look, um—you tore that place down, didn’t you? Destroyed it?”
The Doctor moves forward, as if to touch her, but stops. “Yes. It’s ripped apart, it’s gone. Amy, what’s brought this on?”
“He has River, doesn’t he? And me,” the Doctor adds, with a tight grin.
“But he—he always wanted to play house when we were younger, you know. He wanted to be a dad. And I went to the doctor today, because I've—I’ve been trying to get pregnant again…” Amy chokes, then recovers. “And I wanted to surprise him. And…the doctor, she said—said I'm—” she can’t finish, but she can tell the Doctor understands.
“Hey. Hey, Pond. It’s okay,” the Doctor says, moving gently forward to hug her. “You’re all right, Amelia. I mean, nothing about this is all right. But I’ve got you.” He holds her for a moment, then releases her. His eyes are cold. “Amy, I promise you that the people who held you are dead and gone. And if I ever find Kovarian—” he leaves the threat unfinished, but it’s no less frightening for being unspoken.
Amy steps forward to hug him again, but pauses. “Thank you, Doctor—”
He nods.
“—but isn’t there anything you can do to fix it? You know, some super space technology?”
The Doctor sighs. “C'mon, lets go to the med bay and I’ll scan you. Maybe we can fix you right up!”
In the room, Amy sits very still as the Doctor scans her with a large, circular object—the sixth such object he’s tried. He takes a look at it, and his face hardens. Without warning, he whirls and shatters the scanner against the wall, then starts to pick up another one.
Amy holds up a hand. “Doctor, this isn’t going to work, is it?” Her words are rushed, frantic.
“It will work," the Doctor says thunderously, "I'll find something, I'll—" he catches her eye, and the anger drains out of his face. He looks unspeakably tired. “No. Amelia, I am so sorry. Kovarian treated you and Melody with certain chemicals to change her DNA—make her stronger, enhance the Time Lord part—but damaged some of yours. Your ovocytes are missing a crucial part of DNA, and it’s irreversible.”
“Okay.” Amy says. She feels numb. “Thanks for trying.”
“Amy—”
She forces a smile. “I should get home.”
“Yeah, okay.” The Doctor turns to go back to the console room. “Are you going to tell Rory?”
He has always wanted kids, she thinks, and steels herself. “Sure, I’ll tell him.”
If the Doctor doesn’t believe her, he gives no sign of it.
Amy and Eleven are so adorable in "Vampires of Venice" like in a completely platonic way of course but honestly they're squeaking at each other over vampires and she's catching onto his plans immediately and if there's one thing series 5 consistently delivered on (actually it consistently delivered on everything but anyway) it was building the foundations of relationships (Amy/Eleven and Amy/Rory) that would pay off in a big way later. You can tell all through this episode that they're really getting to know each other and like each other and break through the history a little bit, even while recognizing that the current dynamic is slightly unhealthy due to Amy's abandonment issues and her extremely shoddy treatment of Rory.
I'm off to finally watch "Knock, Knock" and then hopefully start a review of it. Remember that Eleven managed to actually take Amy Pond to the Musée d'Orsay and have a nice day there because she's a cute Art Nerd
An old friend appears on Amy's doorstep, impossible and badly hurt.
You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!
You and the stranger both like doctor who rp.
Stranger: [[Post Angels Take Manhattan, pre-Snowmen "I always come back." Looking for someone to RP as Amy and or Rory?]]
The Doctor was never sure exactly how he knew Amy and Rory's address in New York. He must've found it during a sleepless night in the cold, empty TARDIS. And how he even ended up there, in 1943, New York, was an even bigger mystery to him. Still, though, the TARDIS landed at the end of the street in the middle of the night, and out he came from the box, stumbling and coughing, clutching his side. He was able to handle the attack from a swarm of Krafayis. What he couldn't handle was the TARDIS being non-cooperative and throwing him around violently when he was trying to get away from the planet, the console going up in flames with the Doctor unable to do anything to stop it. It must've been an emergency landing, feeding into his thoughts, because he ended up the one place he wanted to be most.
He stood outside their front door, blood dripping from his head, matting down his hair and streaking his soot-covered face. The Doctor raised a shaking hand to the door, banging on it loudly several times, leaning against the wood. Now came the waiting. The hoping that they were home, that he had the right address, or his worst fear, hoping that they hadn't forgotten him.
[[It can be just one or both, it's up to you :)]]
You: Amy stood in her kitchen, humming happily to the radio playing in the sitting room as she made tea. Rory had agreed to work a double shift, the twat, leaving her alone again. But she would make the most of it, listen to music he didn't like, take a bath, very nice evening. She jumped at the banging on the door. No one knocked like that. She hesitated before slowly making her way toward the door. Probably just some building inspector dude. They did that more in New York than they had in Leadworth. "Who's there?" he called.
You: she*
Stranger: "The Doctor," he replied weakly, gritting his teeth together, leaning more against the door. "Amy.... It's the Doctor..." His voice was strained, cracking as he spoke. He knew that it would be impossible for her to believe that it was him, it was impossible for him to be back there. He had said himself that he would never be able to see her again. Still though, he had to try. He needed her. "The Doctor, Amy..."
You: She froze with her hand on the doorknob. It couldn't be, it had to be a trick, one of the teenagers down the street pulling a prank on her. His voice didn't even seem right, like someone was trying too hard to replicate his voice. She nearly didn't open the door, not wanting to let herself believe the impossible. But the mere thought of her best friend standing outside was enough to cause her to pull the door open. And immediately freeze, jaw hanging open at the man she saw.
Stranger: The Doctor looked up a little, forcing a weak smile to his face. "Hello, Amy..." he said quietly. He'd gotten it right. He'd found her, he'd found a way to get back to her, his Amelia Pond. "Hello, Pond..." The tone of his strained voice came out slurred in the slightest bit. Of course, out of all the times he'd tried to get back to her, he made it there in the time where he was badly hurt, hardly able to keep himself standing without leaning against her house.
You: "You're bleeding," was all she could manage. Her brain was trying to spin too fast, process too much, for her to even greet him. Rory blabbed enough about injuries when he was off duty that she had learned how to glance over someone, assess the situation. That's what she tried to focus on, not harp on the disbelief, the impossibility of the situation.
Stranger: "What? Oh, yes.. I am. It's just a scratch," he lied, badly. "It's fine..." He knew he was bleeding, and he knew it was bad. But he was hiding the worst of it, keeping his hand against his side, covering the worst wound he had. He could deal with the cut on his head, he could deal with anything else, just not the wound on his side.
You: "What stupid thing did you do to get yourself all beat up this time?" she asked, somewhat jokingly, somewhat quite serious and concerned. Even besides the obvious wounds, he looked awful. Tired. She never liked to see him like that. Quickly, she added, "come inside. Don't want you falling over."
Stranger: "Made an enemy or two... By accident, of course.." he said slowly, taking an uneasy step inside. "The, er... The Krafayis, the things from when we met Vincent..." He explained, leaning against the walls to keep himself upright as he went inside.
You: She closed the door behind him, then walked a few steps ahead of him to duck into the sitting room and turn off the radio, fluffing the pillows on the couch and ushering him to sit down. "Can't you do some sort of special Time Lord-y thing? Like you dd to River's hand?"
Stranger: The Doctor bit down on his bottom lip. "No..." he muttered. "Not really... It doesn't... It won't work this time..." He groaned, sitting down as she told him to. "River's hand was just a little injury, easy to fix. But me... Nah... It won't work this time.."
You: "I'll clean you up," she said immediately, nodding. Rory had made sure his wife wasn't clueless when it came to fixing injuries. She could bandage him up. "Give me a sec."
Stranger: He nodded slowly. "You can take your time, Pond... I'm fine, Pond... Trust me..." He said, watching her leave the room, feigning a weak smile to her as she left him. "I'm fine, Pond..."
You: Amy smiled as she went to the kitchen to get towels. No one had referred to her as Pond since she's seen him. Amelia. Mrs. Williams. And the occasional friend who did actually call her Amy. But no Ponds. She'd missed it more than she cared to let herself admit. Despite his words, she hurried, gathering the towels and the bandages, a cookie for if he was good. She returned with a small smile. "Still with me?"
Stranger: "Hmm?" He blinked an eye open, lifting his head up slightly. "Yeah... Still here, Pond..." He mumbled, his teeth gritted together so hard that he was half positive he'd cracked most of the teeth in his mouth. One hand was clenched into a tight fist by his side, his knuckles practically turning white, his other hand still held against his side, refusing to let it go.
You: She made her way over to him, pushing away the coffee table so she could kneel in front of him. "It's gonna be alright, yeah?" she placed her hand over the fist at his side, running her thumb across his knuckles. "I've got you. Just tell me where to start."
Stranger: The Doctor took her hand in his. "Always alright..." he muttered, dropping her hand for a second, tapping the back of his head with his pale fingers. "Start here, I suppose... I dunno... Whatever you think, Pond..." he said, letting out a long, uneven breath, curling his fingers around her hand again.
You: She nodded, standing up again so she could get to his head. She peered around at it. It looked nasty, but not too bad. Her eyes flickered down to his other hand, which hadn't left his side in the entire time since he'd been there. "Something you're hiding from me?" Amy asked, an accusatory edge to her tone.
Stranger: The Doctor tilted his head back, mumbling a quiet 'no' under his breath. "Nothing you need to worry about, Amy..." he sighed. He knew, though, that it was everything to worry about. "It's nothing, Pond... Just leave it alone..."
You: "Not even back for five ten whole minutes and you're already lying to me," she said, shaking her head. "Exercising your rule number one pretty heavily these days aren't we? Move your hand or I'll move it for you." She stared at him, giving him her best mothering face, though she knew he wasn't looking.
Stranger: He bit down hard on his bottom lip, slowly moving his hand off of his side. His hand was covered in the thick crimson liquid, as was his shirt around the gash in his side. "It's nothing, Pond... Leave it alone..." he repeated, avoiding her gaze.
You: "That is not nothing," she said, shaking her head as she lifted one of the towels. "That is worse than your head. That is dangerous looking. How much blood have you lost? Oh, never mind," she pressed the towel to his side, trying to apply as much pressure as possible to stop the bleeding.
Stranger: He grimaced in pain, gritting his teeth tighter. "Oh, enough... It's nothing... Just a scratch, Pond..." he mumbled, smiling weakly at her, his childish grin that he used to have, now just a weak toothy grin.
You: "Shut up," she said, not at all returning the smile. She hated how much he was brushing off the severity of his injuries. She shoved another towel into his hand, not wanting his bloody fingerprints all over her couch.
Stranger: "Same old Pond, nothing changes with you, eh?" He whimpered slightly. "I'll clean off the blood later, Pond... I'll clean it up, don't worry..." He said, his voice coming out more slurred, wiping his hand on the towel she shoved into his hand.
You: "Shut up," she repeated, though not as harshly this time. The pitiful sound of his voice was absolutely killing her. She checked the towel against his side, seeing the blood flow had slowed, but not completely stopped. That was good. Knowing she only needed one hand to hold the towel, she reclaimed his other hand.
Stranger: "You shut up. I'm the one dying," he choked out, gripping her hand tightly in his. "See, we're getting along perfectly, seeing as I haven't seen you in a century and a half..." He sighed, giggling quietly.
You: "A century and a half?" he asked, eyes darting up to meet his face. He'd been alone, hadn't he? Stupid Raggedy Man had been alone for a century and a half. "And nobody is dying today, you hear me? All these... I can fix these."
Stranger: "One hundred-fifty years..." he nodded. "One hundred-fifty years, four months, one week, three days, eleven hours, fifty-six minutes, sixty-seven seconds..." he said breathlessly. He'd been keeping a mental stopwatch in his head, counting the seconds since he'd last saw her. "I hear you, Pond..."
You: She smiled sadly, leaning forward to kiss his forehead. "Reset the counter, Raggedy Man. You're seein' me now." She gave his hand a small squeeze before pulling away to check the towel again. "Bleeding's almost stopped. That's good."
Stranger: "Good.." he nodded, smiling when she kissed his forehead. "What about you then, Pond? How long's it been since you saw this old face, eh?" He asked, meeting eyes with her.
You: "Nice to know you can't tell looking at me," she said, smiling slightly before looking away to get back to tending his wound. "Going on eight years. Nothing compared to a century and a half, but... fair amount of time, I suppose."
Stranger: "Eight years..." he repeated, smiling sadly at her. "Any amount of time can seem like a century, you know... It all depends on how long it seems to stretch. See, it felt like, oh, about a million years since Manhattan... But it was much less.... Still long, but, not as much as a million years..."
You: She nodded, though she was concentrating mostly on making the swift exchange between the towel and placing the bandages. She didn't want to let the air get to it for too long, knowing it would be painful for him. As soon as she had done it, she glanced up at him. "Sorry. Rory'd be better at this than me."
Stranger: The Doctor grimaced, biting his bottom lip tightly. "It's fine..." he mumbled, tilting his head back against the couch cushions. "Where is Rory anyways?" he asked quietly, staring up at the ceiling.
You: "Working a double at the hospital," she said, eyes scanning over the work she was doing. "Sometimes feels like he lives there. But he's important." She smirked. "You're not the only doctor around here these days."
Stranger: "Oh? Good for him. He finally made it to a doctor," he smiled. "No more Rory the nurse. Two doctors in your life now, Pond, eh?" He asked, lifting his head up a little. "What about you, Pond? What has Amy Pond been doing in the big city, hmm?"
You: "He couldn't stand working for people when he had a century's worth more medical knowledge." She smiled. "Shopping, mostly. Doctors do make good money." She glanced up at him. "And put your head back down."
Stranger: The Doctor chuckled weakly. "Nothing really ever changes, eh? Same old Pond..." he sighed, putting his head back down on the couch cushions. "Same old Pond... My Amelia Pond..." he mumbled, smiling to himself.
You: She was silent for a few minutes as she finished up with his side, giving her work a thorough review. It looked solid to her, though she would keep an eye on it. "Head now," she stated more than asked, moving to kneel on the couch next to where he sat.
Stranger: He tilted his head forwards again so she could have a better look. "Eight years.." he mumbled to himself, frowning. "Sorry I couldn't get here sooner.... I tried... The TARDIS wouldn't let me land..."
You: "I knew you couldn't," she said, shaking her head. "You told me that. In the graveyard." She gently combed away his hair to get to the actual gash. "You told me I wouldn't be able to see you. I made my choice. Don't feel bad for not being able to get here."
Stranger: "That doesn't mean I should've stopped trying.." He said quietly. He'd tried so many times to find her again, but never succeeded, only ending up being thrown against the TARDIS walls when she refused to let him land. He'd tried and tried. He needed her. But nothing ever worked.
You: "You're here now, though, yeah? That's what matters," She nodded, starting to clean his head wound as gently as possible. She cleared her throat. "How's my baby girl?"
Stranger: "She's good... She comes by every once and a while, make sure I get out of the TARDIS..." he sighed, biting his lip to stop from wincing. "She misses you and Rory."
You: "Good, good. Sounds like her." At least that meant he hadn't been completely and totally alone. At least that meant he had somebody sometimes. "We miss her, too." She paused, realizing she hadn't properly said it to him. "We, uh... we've missed you. I've missed you."
Stranger: "I missed you..." he repeated quickly. He'd missed her too much for his own good, leading him to sulk in his box and never open the doors for anyone. "I missed you, Pond...."
You: "Well, you'll have lots of time with me for a little while," she said, smiling slightly. "You're not going off again until you're healed. I'm not having you rip these cuts open again because you can't keep still."
Stranger: The Doctor smiled at her. "I don't plan on leaving anytime soon, Pond..." He didn't want to leave, he couldn't lose her again. He couldn't bear having to leave her again. "I don't plan to leave soon.."
You: "Good," she said, offering him a small smile in return. It would be good to have him around for a little bit. Have some company. After a few minutes, she frowned. "Did you tell Brian?"
Stranger: The Doctor sighed, letting out a long breath. "No... Well... I did... But someone had already told him. Someone... Anthony, I think he said... I'm not sure..." he said slowly. "I went back to tell him, and he'd already been told. He misses you lot, too."
You: Amy chuckled. "We actually do it, then... perfect," she giggled. "Rory will be glad to hear it." She continued to chuckle slightly as she worked on his head, cleaning him up.
Stranger: "Actually do what?" He asked, slightly confused as he turned his head to look at her a little. "What do you mean? What do you actually do, Pond, hmm?"
You: She smiled. "Rory and I are thinking about adopting. You... you know how we've wanted kids. We've been joking that if we ever did, we'd have him go visit Brian when he grows up, after we're dead. Thought that'd be a laugh." She shook her head. "And Anthony is always what we said we'd name a son. Kind of makes you wonder..."
Stranger: The Doctor looked up more. "Oh?" he smiled. "Anthony...Anthony... I know the rest of his name, hold on..." he paused, thinking hard. "Oh... Oh, Ponds..." He chuckled to himself. "Impossible Ponds..."
You: "What? What's so funny?" she asked, staring at him with an amused smirk. "Come on, tell me? The fate of your head does rest in my hands."
Stranger: The Doctor just kept chuckling. "1946, you and Rory adopt a little boy... Anthony Brian Williams..." He smiled. "Congratulations, Pond..."
You: "Anthony Brian Williams. 1946," she repeated, nodding. "Good to know my timeline is going to play out nicely." She reached for a bandage. Compared to is side, the head was nothing. "Perfect."
Stranger: "Three years, I think." He nodded a little. "Three years from now. Brian said... Brian said the letter said 1946 and it's..." he paused, thinking for a moment. "1943, I think. So... 3 years, Pond.."
You: She chuckled. "Doctor, I know what year it is. I do live here, you know." She played with some of his hair unnecessarily, just out of fondness. It was good to have him back, too good.
Stranger: "I know you know what year it is.. I needed to see if I knew. I am the one that crashed onto your street like this.." He said defensively, though still smiled at her. "Thank you, Amy..."
You: She smiled, pulling back as she finished up with his head. "What for, Doctor?" He was being awfully sentimental, which was understandable, and sort of nice. But it was also sort of freaking her out. The Doctor was never like this.
Stranger: "I dunno.. Being here, I suppose..." he shrugged. "Just thank you, Pond..." He repeated, leaning forwards and putting his arms around her neck, holding her close to him. He didn't want to let go again, ever.
You: She let out a breathy sigh, wrapping her arms around his midsection, careful to avoid the bandages. She'd been so worried about getting him patched up, stopping all the bleeding. She'd forgotten about the hugging part.
Stranger: "Oh, Pond..." He mumbled, burying his face into her hair. He'd missed her too much, he'd been alone for too long. He'd needed someone. And here he was, back with his Ponds again. "Gotcha..."
You: She sighed again, grabbing fistfuls of his clothing with no intention of loosening her grip. "It's good to have you back, Raggedy Man," she said slowly, softly. "You always do come back."
Stranger: "I always find a way to come back... I told you I always come back..." he breathed. "It's good to be back..." He whispered. Nothing, not a thing in the world could convince him to let go of her, to lose her again.
You: "Mmm I know you do," she hummed. She laid her head against his shoulder. "How's the TARDIS? You been taking care of her? She been taking care of you?"
Stranger: The Doctor shrugged as much as he could. "I spent the past seventy-five years building something in the TARDIS... I keep forgetting to change the bulb on top or repaint the outside... She's been taking care of me, though."
You: She sighed in annoyance and worry. "Well somebody has to." Letting her clenched fists relax, she patted his back, but didn't move away. "Building something?"
Stranger: The Doctor groaned and nodded. "Yeah. Took me a while but I finally finished it about nine years ago." He sighed. "It took a very, very long time to make.."
You: "Gonna keep being all cryptic or are you gonna tell me what this thing is?" Amy asked, glancing up at his face. It was so annoying how he did that sometimes. She missed it.
Stranger: "It's er, hard to explain." He started, smiling a little. "It's sort of like a cinema, except it doesn't play films it's... A memory room. It can show you anything you need to see. Any memories you have.. Anything you miss..."
You: "You didn't," Amy said, straightening up to see his face. It wasn't hard to guess what he had been using it for, why he'd wanted it. And she didn't like that thought, not one bit.
Stranger: "I had to do something, Amy..." he replied quickly. "I-I missed you, Amy... I had to do something... Had to put my memories somewhere, I suppose.. River told me to do something, to stop sitting around and wandering the halls. So I built something."
You: "So you built something to help you dwell on the past even more than you already do," she said, tone more accusatory than she had planned it to be. "Doctor, you shouldn't do that. Don't do that!"
Stranger: The Doctor frowned at her. "I... I..." he sighed, letting the words drop once he gave up on finding them. "It helped me, Amy. It helped, knowing there was someway I could still see you, still hear your voice. It helped me."
You: She looked down, then back up at him, regretting sounding so harsh. "Doctor..." she shook her head. "I'm glad it helped. I really am, but.... a whole century? I don't want you thinking about me the whole time. I want you to be happy. Without me."
Stranger: "I can't." He mumbled. "I can't, Amy. I just... Can't anymore." He ran a hand through his hair, letting out a frustrated sigh. "I can't sleep. I can't think. I can't do anything. I can't, Amelia.."
You: "Careful," she said, grabbing his hand before he could mess with his hair too much, worried about the bandage. "It's alright." Too fast. She shouldn't have said that yet. Too fast. "It doesn't matter yet, yeah? Because you're gonna stay for a bit."
Stranger: "Yeah, yeah..." He nodded slowly. "It doesn't matter... It doesn't matter, because I'm staying here." He said, smiling a little. "Maybe I'll show it to you someday, the memory room. And you could understand more why I built it."
You: "I understand why you built it. I just don't like the idea," she said, standing to gather the towels. "That's all." Reaching for the cookie on the coffee table, she handed it to him. "Here."
Stranger: The Doctor giggled like a child when she handed it to him, shaking his head a little. "Let me help you, Pond." He said after a brief pause. "I said I would, so let me help." He said, slowly bringing himself up to his feet.
You: "Sit down," she said, placing her hand on his shoulder. "Sit down, relax for a minute, eat your cookie. You've lost a lot of blood. Please." She continued to gather the towels, glancing at him in hopes he'd listen for once.
Stranger: "No, I said I'd help." He protested, pouting at her. "Let me help, Pond. You helped me, let me help you." He frowned, pulling her hand off his shoulder. "Please, let me help."
You: "I can do it just fine, Doctor. You can help me later, yeah?" She looked at him, still worried. "I don't want you hurting yourself. You can help me fold them once they're dry or something."
Stranger: "I'm helping you, and you're not saying no, Pond." He said sternly. "I can help. I'm fine, Amy. I'm fine, trust me." He said, letting out a long breath. "Just let me help you, please. It's my mess. Let me help you clean it up."
You: "My house, my rules, Doctor," Amy replied, equally sternly. "And if you think you're gonna win any argument here, buddy, remember, I may be living in New York, but I am still very, very Scottish."
Stranger: The Doctor rolled his eyes at her. "Fine." He mumbled, sitting back down on her couch. "Fine, Pond." He grumbled, crossing his arms in front of his chest, narrowing his eyes at her.
You: "Good," she nodded, looking rather smug with herself. "Now, you are going to eat your cookie and I am going to go wash these towels," she said with a nod, walking to the room's entrance. "Eat."
Stranger: The Doctor stuck out his tongue at her. "Whatever you say, Pond....." he sighed, leaning back heavily against the couch cushions, trying to hide his smirk at her, but it was a useless attempt.
You: Amy chuckled as she walked off to the kitchen. She bit her lip, assessing the towels in her hand. The one she'd used to clean his side was a hopeless case, but she could probably salvage the ones from his head and hand. So she set to work, trying to take her mind over the fact that it was his blood she was scrubbing out of her towels.
Stranger: The Doctor sat there in silence for about half a minute, before he eventually gave up on sitting still. He pulled himself up to his feet slowly, leaning against the walls and walking as silently as he could, following her to the kitchen. "You know that neither of us listen, Pond." He said quietly.
You: She jumped at the sound of the voice behind her, somehow managing not to splash bloody water everywhere, though she did let out a curse under her breath. "Yeah, and I'd forgotten how bloody annoying it is!" she snapped. "Go sit down. You shouldn't be walking around."
Stranger: "It doesn't matter," he said quickly, leaning more against the doorframe than he intended to. "I'm fine, Amy." He offered her a weak smile, taking an uneasy step forwards toward her to try and prove his words to be true. Only to have his knees give out from under his weight as soon as he moved from the wall.
You: "Doctor!" Amy yelled, rushing forward to catch him. Some blood and water splattered onto the floor in the process, but she didn't, wrapping her arms around him. "You've been taking stupid lessons again."
Stranger: "No, I'm fine." He shook his head, practically clinging to her though. "I'm fine, Amy. I'm fine.." he mumbled, blinking repeatedly. "I'm okay, Pond..." he repeated. He was vaguely aware that he was leaning against her, but he didn't think much of it.
You: "You are not fine. You nearly just collapsed in my kitchen. That's not fine," she insisted, shaking her head. She tried to guide him over to the wall. "Come on."
Stranger: "I know.." he mumbled, making his way to the wall she was guiding him to. "No, it's not fine...Definitely not... I'm not fine... I am not fine at all..."
You: "Well I'm gonna help you, yeah? That's what we do. We help each other." She glanced at his face. "How about we get you laying down?"
Stranger: "Good, yes... Laying down is good...." He squinted his eyes shut tightly, taking one of her hands and gripping it tightly. "Is--is the room spinning... Or is that just me...?" He asked, giggling nervously.
You: She pulled him close, holding his hand tightly. "It's alright. Gotcha, remember? Keep your eyes closed, it'll pass. It'll pass." At this point, the couch and the guest bedroom were about equally far away, so she figured she would shoot for the bedroom.
Stranger: The Doctor gritted his teeth together. "Yeah, gotcha, Pond..." He mumbled, leaning against her more than he intended to. ((brb. i have go eat. sorry.))
You: "Tell me when you think you can move again, alright?" she said. "And not any sooner. And listen to me next time." ((not a problem!))
Stranger: "I never listen." He grumbled, grimacing slightly. "I never listen, and neither do you. Haven't you realized that by now?" ((thank you for waiting!))
You: "Well you need to listen today because if you fall again, I'm gonna leave you there," Amy said, though she knew she'd never had the heart to. ((of course :) ))
Stranger: "Nah, you wouldn't do that, Pond." He said weakly, squinting his eyes shut further. "You wouldn't do that.."
You: "You're not exactly in a position to test your luck, now are you?" she pointed out.
Stranger: "We could try standing and see how that works..." he muttered, curling his free hand into a tight fist.
You: "That's not going to work. That's not how dizziness works, especially you, who can't even walk straight half the time even when you haven't lost lots of your own blood." She shook her head. "No, you need to lie down."
Stranger: He grumbled something unintelligable. "Would lying down be the same as passing out? 'Cause right now I'm leaning more towards the latter of those two options."
You: She groaned. No way she could carry him if he passed out, his head weight would be too much. "Come on," she said, trying to take as much of his weight as possible now. "Stay with me, yeah? Stay with me for me. It's not far."
Stranger: "Of course, Pond..." He mumbled, smiling weakly, trying to support himself as much as he could for her sake. "Of course.. Right here... I-I'm fine..."
You: "Just make it through that door. To that bed. That's all. Then you can sleep, I promise," Amy said, trying to go at his pace. "You can do it."
Stranger: "Yes, yes... That's fine... I can do it... I'm fine.." He nodded to her. "Mental note for the future... The Krafayis are not your friends....Agh..." he muttered.
You: "The Krafayis are not your friends," Amy repeated. "What number rule is that? Twenty-four? Seventy-six?" She pushed open the door with her foot. "Twelve?"
Stranger: "Fifteen, maybe... No...Four hundred-eight, I think... I dunno, I lost count.." He mumbled. "Too many rules... I dunno anymore.."
You: "Maybe you should drop some, then?" She flipped on the light. "Like maybe the first one?"
Stranger: The Doctor blinked in the light. "No.. No the first one stays... Rule one never changes.."
You: "I like to think you throw the truth in there once in a while," she said, helping him over to sit on the side of the bed. "There we go."
Stranger: "Once in a while..." he repeated, sitting down heavily on the bed. "Thanks Pond... Can always count on you whenever I'm in trouble..."
You: "Vice versa," she said, kissing his forehead again as he always used to do hers. "Get some rest, yeah?"
Stranger: "No, I don't sleep..." he muttered, though he was half aware that he'd gone from sitting to laying down. "I don't sleep anymore.."
You: "You don't sleep anymore?" she repeated worriedly, still sitting beside him. "What do you mean?"
Stranger: "I can't..." he sighed. "Oh, trust me, Amy. I've tried... And that was four nights in a row waking up on the floor of the TARDIS. No more sleeping."
You: "Doctor, you look exhausted. And you've lost a lot of blood." She ran her fingers through his hair. "Come on. You're at the Willia-- Pond house. You can sleep here."
Stranger: The Doctor frowned at her, but nodded nonetheless. "We'll see how far we get this time before I wake up in the middle of the night..." he muttered.
You: "How far you get? What do you mean?" Amy asked, frowning herself now. He was really starting to worry her now, if he hadn't been before.
Stranger: "How long I can keep myself asleep before, er, nightmares..." he said quietly, rubbing the back of his neck.
You: Amy looked at him sadly. She's always wondered if that was a problem for him, but it wasn't exactly an easy topic to bring up. "Can I do anything? To help?"
Stranger: The Doctor shook his head weakly. "Nah, it's alright, Pond... I've learned to deal with them for the past century and a half..."
You: "Yeah and how much sleeping have you done since then?" She asked. "Because from what I've heard, you haven't been dealing too well."
Stranger: "Total? Er..." He frowned, biting his bottom lip. "Maybe... Twenty-four hours total over the past century..."
You: "That's not enough, Raggedy Man," she shook her head, taking his hand to play with his fingers.
Stranger: "I was busy.." he shrugged, smiling weakly. "I was building the memory room... I didn't need to sleep."
You: "That's gonna catch up with you, you know," she said. "Might as well catch up with you while you're here with me."
Stranger: The Doctor let out a long breath. "Sounds like a plan.." he murmured quietly.
You: "I'll be in the kitchen," Amy said with a nod. "Call me if you need me, yeah?"
Stranger: "Yeah," he nodded. "Sorry about all the blood, though. I'll help you when I'm back on my feet..."
You: "Don't worry. Rest." She stood, making her way to the door. "And no standing up without me here!" She pointed a finger at him sternly. "Got it?"
Stranger: The Doctor rolled his eyes and didn't open them once they closed. "Gotcha, Pond...." he mumbled.
You: "Good," she smiled at him as she stepped outside. "Sleep well, Raggedy Man."
Stranger: ((brb! hold on)
You: ((haha alright))
Stranger: If her were conscious, the Doctor would've been surprised that he was able to sleep as much as he did, seeing as he was still asleep when Rory walked into the house, getting concerned at the spots of blood he saw on the couch. "Amy?" He called.
You: Amy grimaced, darting out of the kitchen with blood still on her hands. "Shhh, keep it down, he
You: he's asleep, keep it down."
Stranger: Rory's eyes widened at the blood on her hands. "What happened? Who's asleep? Amy, why is there blood all over the sodding house?" He asked in a whisper.
You: "Calm down," Amy said with a smile. "It's the Doctor. He found a way back to us."
Stranger: Rory froze. "The... The Doctor? The Doctor?! What... What the hell happened?!"
You: "He got attacked by the Krafayis from... well, that was before your time on the TARDIS. But he got attached and somehow he got back to us and he was hurt." She smiled proudly. "I patched him up like you taught me."
Stranger: "So..." Rory started. "So that's his blood on your hands? That's his blood? What the he- Is he alright?"
You: "Well, it's the blood from the towels I used. I told him I'd try to clean them." She nodded. "He's alright. Really weak, really tired. He's sleeping in the guest room."
Stranger: Rory relaxed slightly. "I thought he said he would never be able to come back..." he muttered
You: "He shouldn't be able to," she agreed. "Took him a century and a half, but he did. What best friends do, I guess."
Stranger: "Right..." Rory nodded, trying to get his thoughts in order. "How long has he been here?"
You: "Few hours. He's been out cold. Said he's only slept about a day's worth since we left." She frowned. "Been having a rough time without his Ponds."
Stranger: Rory sighed. "This is... This is just..." he ran a hand through his hair. "This is mad. After eight years, he's... The Doctor's back.."
You: Amy stepped into the kitchen to grab a clean cloth, wiping off her hands so she could approach Rory. "He's going to be staying here for a few days. I told him he could."
Stranger: "Sure. Of course. As long as he needs to." He nodded, following her to the kitchen.
You: "Enough about me, though. How was your day?" she asked him, smiling slightly. Had to give both of her boys her attention.
Stranger: Rory rolled his eyes playfully. "Good, busy. Lots of people looking to me for help, you know." He shrugged, smiling a little.
You: "Of course," she said, trying her hands before walking over to kiss him. "Told the Doctor about you. What you've been up to. He seemed very proud."
Stranger: Rory's smile widened a bit. "That's... That's good. Making the Doctor proud." He said quietly.
You: "And me even prouder." She clasped her hands behind his neck, smiling. "I have some others news you might find interesting."
Stranger: "Other news?" Rory repeated, squinting a bit in confusion. "What do you mean?"
You: "The Doctor stopped in to see your father after... well, you know," she said with a nod.
Stranger: He nodded. "Yeah. After Manhattan. What's the news?"
You: "Well he went to tell him and Brian already knew." She grinned. "A man named Anthony had already stopped in to tell him."
Stranger: Rory froze. "A-Anthony? Anthony, like... Like how we always said we'd name a son Anthony?"
You: "Like how we always said we'd name a son Anthony," Amy agreed. "The Doctor says we adopt him three years from now. Anthony Brian Williams."
Stranger: Rory beamed. "We adopt him in three years." He repeated, unable to keep himself from laughing. "Oh, my god..."
You: She giggled. "I know, crazy right? We actually follow through and we... we have a son."
Stranger: Rory ran a hand over his face. "We have a son in three years.." he said breathlessly. "We have a son."
You: She smiled, playing with his hair. "I bet you're the best dad in the world."
Stranger: "You'll be the best mum in the world," he countered, grinning at her.
You: "Oh, and speaking of our children," she said, nodding, "Melody is doing well, too."
Stranger: "She is? Good. That's... That's great. This is... This is fantastic." He laughed.
You: "Thought you would say so," she beamed. "Good to have him back, too."
Stranger: "Good to know you're still pleased to have me here," a voice cut in, leaning against the doorway of the guest room.
You: Amy immediately whipped around. "You are impossible! You aren't supposed to be up and walking around!"
Stranger: "Oh, shut up. You're no fun anymore." He grumbled. "Rory the Roman! Hello, Rory!" He cheered.
You: "Remember who saved your bloody life yesterday," Amy said, turning to the sink. "Pun definitely intended." Rory smiled, waving somewhat awkwardly. "Doctor! Hello."
Stranger: The Doctor rolled his eyes at Amy's comment. "I'm here and alive now, that's what you said counts, eh?"
You: "Yep," Amy said, popping the p to add some attitude. At least he was feeling better. Still, she couldn't stop herself from feeling annoyed with this new reckless attitude he seemed to be taking on. "Sure."
Stranger: "How long have I been asleep?" He asked, changing the subject, not moving from the doorway.
You: "Few hours," she said, bending over as she saw a drop of blood still on the floor.
Stranger: "Longer than I usually sleep." He shrugged. "Anything I can hep with now that I'm on my feet?"
You: "Not really," she shrugged. "Suppose I should make dinner, now that Rory's come home."
Stranger: "Let me help with that, then." He offered, more of a statement than a question. "The least I can do."
You: "Sorry, can you suddenly cook now?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. "I got it."
Stranger: "Oi," he smirked. "Let me help with something, Amy. Please."
You: "You could go try to clean up my couch," she offered, shrugging. "I've got the food. Food is what I do now."
Stranger: The Doctor nodded. "Sure. Whatever I can do." He said, starting forwards a bit unsteadily.
You: "And do me a favor and sit on the couch while you clean it," she added hastily. "No passing out."
Stranger: "Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, Pond." He waved her off.
You: "Don't give me that," she said, properly tired of this now. "Don't give me that 'whatever you say, Pond'."
Stranger: The Doctor stopped in the doorway again. "Sorry... I'm sorry... I didn't mean... I..."
You: "Don't worry about it," she said, shaking her head as she attempted to brush past her. "I'll be back, there's blood on my shirt."
Stranger: ((I've got to go :( do you have a tumblr?))
You: ((I do I do :) withallofmyhearts))
