Old floor out, new floor in. This was a floor on top of a floor. Originally this had York stone flags on top of the timbers which incidentally are treated railway sleepers installed when the houses were built in 1900. The dividing wall is built on the sleepers as are the stone steps. Water has been leaking in for decades and the sleepers around the door were severely decayed. This is antrodia serialis and this is a very rare fungus that takes years to form if conditions are right. Conditions have to be extremely humid, wet and dark. This cellar has no natural ventilation and no light bulb. The timbers are decayed with brown and wet rot and we will be having to take all the floor out and replace it with new as well as treating the fungus and mould.
