Spike and Jenny could’ve been besties. You can’t tell me if Jenny was around in season four she wouldn’t invite sad cat Spike in and give him blood mixed with booze. They could shit talk Angel, not to mention help each other out with their respective love lives, since Jenny is a stylish boss babe and Spike is a bookworm gentleman, meaning if they need to get a present for their partner they just have to hit each other up to get ideas. They’d play video games together like the nerds they are and tease each other to death
Bonus: you can’t tell me Jenny would’ve let Faith stay in a motel room if she was around in season 3, meaning we get more friendship goals (plus Buffy gets two smoking hot partners, good for her)
One thing I love about Spike is he’s so good for making a variety of queer headcanons about. He’s a bisexual man. He’s a he/him lesbian. He’s transmasc. She’s transfem. They’re nonbinary.
And every option is a great way to explore his character.
Funny thing about Spike and Buffy is eventually they’re going to pick up each other’s speech patterns. Like that’s just what’s gonna happen. A demon is gonna say something annoying to Buffy and “piss off” is just gonna slip out. Or she’s accidentally going to say “the telly” and then eventually there’s gonna be moments where Spike starts to sound like a Valley Girl, so please imagine that with the English accent. 🤣
Improving Dead Man’s Party from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Listen to me this is literally the worst episode I’ve seen so far (I’m like halfway through season 3). My thing is I think what could’ve saved that episode is showing why the Scoobies were acting unstable, avoidant and cruel. Literally could’ve just been two or three flashbacks of the Scoobies dealing with some awful stuff.
See imo nobody’s necessarily completely out of character with the important caveat that it would only be truly in character for them if they’d just had the most traumatic summer of their lives and they’re having their own respective When She Was Bad (tm) collective moments. It wouldn’t excuse the behavior but it would at least explain it.
My Headcanons for “hidden scenes” of what happened to The Scoobies Worst Summer Ever
First and foremost I don’t think that Xander and Willow (and by extension Oz) would try and tackle the Vampire problem on their own unless they felt like they had to. I’ve seen some people argue that they didn’t have to go fight Buffy’s fight while she was gone but I don’t think they’d feel that way. They lost a close friend to vamps (Jesse) and I’m almost certain the death rate and vampire population absolutely SPIKED in Buffy’s absence. Out of anyone in Sunnydale, aside from Giles (who’s preoccupied with finding Buffy) these TEENAGERS are the only ones with enough understanding/experience with the supernatural to put a dent in the life-threatening spooky bitch population. These guys were canonically killing their friends and classmates and had minimal adult supervision and were inspired by Buffy to fight the good fight. So they tried, and they canonically sucked at it!
I don’t think Joyce would’ve been on speaking terms with most of the Scoobies for at least the first month and a half, and even then she might not have ever brought up Buffy leaving a note. Willow is not great at confrontation and is distracted by Oz and Magic and stuff. Giles is flying all over the country. You know who I think would reach out to Joyce? Genuinely? Xander! His home life sucks, he and Giles don’t get along super well, Cordy’s gone and Willow and Oz have each other. I think aside from Giles, Xander would take it upon himself to look after Buffy’s family (which he canonically does in other contexts later on).
I also think that everyone got hurt a lot trying to square up against the undead. Which would explain why Xander comes down so hard on Joyce’s side in the big blow up at the party. Aside from probably really really liking Joyce since he and Willow don’t have spectacular parents (not that Joyce is a saint but still) and his two big triggers are Vampires in general and his friends’ getting hurt, especially Willow, that’d explain some of his rancid behavior in DMP.
As for Willow? Don’t get me wrong I love Oz and Willow and think they were good together, however obv things aren’t always peachy keen between them. Oz lied to her about going to summer school and would’ve had to wolf out at least twice before Buffy came back. Maybe Oz being a werewolf and all the things that come with it bothered her more than she thought it would, and things were not okay between Xander and Willow at the end of the season so she definitely didn’t talk to him about this stuff. Hell maybe the werewolf stuff was straight up SCARY for her but she didn’t want Oz to break up with her (for the reasons he ultimately leaves later).
Then there’s the whole magic thing and the birth of her slowly burgeoning resentment of Giles. Who is too busy with Watcher stuff, grieving for Jenny, trying to keep Joyce in the loop and having to prioritize finding Buffy over the stuff going on with her. Despite their similarities and the early warning signs Willow is giving off. I think a huge part of what motivated Willow in her magic journey is feeling useless/not in control and not even being sure if her re-souling spell worked. I think she wanted to look for Buffy with magic, she probably tried!
In fact Willow makes an offhand comment of biting off more than she could chew by dealing with the spirit world. What if what drove her to even try that was maybe trying to communicate with Jenny’s spirit maybe to get Giles to pay attention to her? Maybe to get guidance from Jenny directly with the whole magic thing since she feels ignored and misunderstood and she and Jenny were close? Or even worse, what if she was so scared that Buffy was dead and was trying to find out by looking for her spirit just in case? There’s so many tragic implications for why she’d even try magic that difficult!
So like Willow and Xander are taking the brunt of the attempted slaying with assists from Oz and almost definitely feel they’re fighting a loosing battle. Xander is isolated from everyone except for maaaybe Joyce and he and Willow are drifting apart and has all of his Masculinity Issues which might’ve been exacerbated by one of the Scoobies being hurt fighting vamps. Willow feeling abandoned, isolated and ignored with having no place to vent her feelings about the other Scoobies and doing magic to cope with zero guidance. Actually SEEING those struggles in parallel with Buffy’s I think would’ve made the Scoobies way way WAY more sympathetic in DMP but nooooo.
I also headcanons that some apologies and communication HAD to have happened between Dead Man’s Party and Faith, Hope and Trick otherwise I don’t think Buffy and the Scoobies would’ve been on speaking terms, especially not Buffy & Xander.
silly buffyverse vamp headcanon that i've been thinking about:
vampire brows (and other parts of the face/body that shift) are incredibly sensitive, with lots of nerve endings, so wounds there hurt more than on other parts of the body. but as a side effect of this sensitivity, heatbutts are a pretty common "friendly" interaction between vampires.
a brief bonk of the heads is like a friendly greeting, while pressing foreheads together for an extended period of time acts as a more intimate display of affection, associated with feelings of camaraderie, trust, and devotion.
the former action can be done by any vampires not actively trying to kill one another, while the latter is typically reserved for those in the same bloodline, or who otherwise hunt regularly together.
other shifting features, such as the cheeks, mouth, and fingertips/claws are similarly sensitive, so it is not uncommon for a vampire that is at ease to scratch at and bite things and/or people, even when not aggravated or feeding. generally, vampires engage in a lot of casual physical touch with one another, and their desire for sensory input can often be increased during or after feeding.
I am really in the mood to write some headcanons so please send in as many requests as you like!
I'll write anything x reader and SFW for Supernatural, Criminal Minds, Doctor Who, BtVS & AtS, MCU and X-Men.
Thank you in advance!
(Disclaimer: I have only season 10 seasons of Supernatural, 5 of Criminal Minds and all of the MCU up to Deadpool and Wolverine)
Headcanon:
Angel can teleport, and that’s what’s actually happening when he just appears out of nowhere , but he’s just never figured out that that’s what’s going on and neither has anyone else.
