Kingsley hadn’t been home long, just long enough to shed his shoes at the door and make his way into his bedroom, Bayo following along at his heels as his owner went about tugging off his jacket and tossing it on his bed. It wasn’t the best hour, honestly, Kingsley could barely decide if it would be considered very late at night or very early in the morning at that point, but he had just gotten home. A bit of guilt tugged at him as he knew that Gideon was gone and wouldn’t have been able to take Bayo out, the poor dog. Kingsley himself had been out of a tracking detail for the Ministry, the assignment feeling a bit pointless when he knew Alastor and Gideon were out there somewhere without him, but it kept him busy nonetheless. Maybe he did need to take Hestia up on her offer of walking the dog while he was at work. Though the witch had offered out of friendliness, Kingsley would consider a few galleons her way more than worth it for his boy’s comfort.
It was only when Kingsley caught a sniff of something that smelt distinctly like burning, that he paused in his actions that had turned from shedding his work clothes to looking around for his dog’s leash. With widened eyes, the wizard rushed out into the main area of the flat, stopping short when he caught sight of a familiar face. “What the hell, Dork?” He asked with a fair amount of exasperation, reasoning that if there was a smell of burning and Dorcas was around, she was more than likely the source.
