“It’s pretty funny how our birthdays are super close to each other,” Kisaragi remarks as he glances down at Matoi from atop the tree branch. “Wouldn’t we be more similar then? Hehe, I like how different we are, though.” Shifting slightly, he shoots Matoi a bright and unwavering smile. He considers himself to be pretty adept with surviving in the wild-- even giving himself the rather embarrassing title of ‘King of the Mountain’. The grin remains on his face as he offers a hand to the pegasus knight, waiting for her to take his hand so he can pull her up.
“Good thing you woke up early-- I still think we have enough time to get ready to watch the sunrise!” He nods, triumphant and grateful from his mentally ingrained schedule of waking up at the crack of dawn for his daily hunting trips. He decides that maybe he might lay off the hunting trip for the day-- after all, it is his cherished friend’s birthday. “I decided to not hunt today, so we can do whatever you’d like, Matoi! It’s your birthday, after all! We can even study-- although, that won’t be very fun.”
Eyes widen as he remembers the gift he got her, and he shoves a hand into his pocket and rummages around until he retrieves a petite box. He takes Matoi’s hand into his own, and plops the jewelry box in it. “I saved up for this! Open it, I think you might like it! I don’t really know what to get girls, but apparently they like jewelry? That’s what Shino said, anyways. I don’t think he really knows, either.” He jokes, “but it’s a necklace. It had wings on it, so it reminded me of you! Since you always have those wing clips in your hair!”
“Happy birthday, mom-- Matoi.”
