Cair Paravel aesthetics
"Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia"
It's been a few years since I drew these but I wanted to get them out there. Here you have my vision of, in order, Cair Paravel, Anvard, and Tashbaan.
For Cair Paravel I referenced a picture of Mont Saint Michel, for Anvard a drawing in an Austrian castle I once spent the night at, and Tashbaan was drawn without a reference.
All of the pictures are pencil and soft pastel on paper, then edited a bit to bring out the colors.

im very normal about narnia
Thinking about how one of the clues that the Pevensies ended up in the ruins of Cair Paravel millennia later in Prince Caspian was that Susan came across a golden chess piece, and I think there might be a little more to the fact that it's golden.
It's known that C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were admirers of Norse mythology--so much so, that they were very opposed to how Nazi Germany co-opted the imagery (among other reasons to hate Nazis)--and Norse mythology has this detail post-Ragnarok, where the surviving gods find the golden chess pieces that the Aesir used to play with, back when Asgard was still standing (Asgard, like much else, is destroyed in the final battle).
The symbolism is very similar; a group of "survivors" from a bygone era, in the ruins of what was once their home, and now having to face the new, alien world before them. It can't be just a coincidence.
how whoever fancasted the pevensies as the hogwarts founders was moving
when adam’s flesh and adam’s bone,
sits at cair paravel in throne,
the evil time will be over and done
