In 1822, when Mexico achived its independence from Spain, California, Nevada, and Utah, and parts of Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico became La Alta California. It was a territorio with a pecular "Ranchero" culture, and its people came to be known as Los Californios. Alta California drew the attention of many foreigners, for different reasons. One of them was the Massachusetts-born journalist Charles Fletcher Lummis, who among many other things, recorded the Spanish songs of the Californios. In this virtual charla, I venture into the history and culture of Los Californios through the music compliled by Lummis. Michelin Releases Bay Area’s 2018 Stars With Coi Scoring A Coveted 3 Star Rating

The Michelin Guide for 2018 for the Bay Area was released yesterday and we now have the most 3-starred establishment in North America with 7.

Matthew Kirkley Coi became the latest to join the elite list that includes only about 100 restaurants worldwide.

Also joining or upgrading this year are Californios and Single Thread with 2 stars and In Situ, Kenzo, Kinjo, and Rich Table.
