April Fools’ Day Prank: UC Browser Updated to “Calorie Browser”
Imagine a mobile browser that helps you burn calories while you surf the internet. Sounds like something that can only be possible in an ideal world, right?
Yesterday, however, we stunned and delighted UC Browser users around the world when we launched the “revolutionary” Calorie Browser that helps you burn calories while you surf the web. That’s why you may have found that your UC Browser was “automatically updated” to Calorie Browser yesterday morning:
Calorie Browser uses body gesture control technology to perform browsing functions, which givesyou a “healthy, all-in-one web experience.” Some of its hilarious features include:
- Spinning like a ballet dancer to refresh the page
- Swim the breaststroke to zoom in
- Roll on the floor to activate Incognito Mode
- Run like Usain Bolt to download a movie in 10 seconds
- Hurl an imaginary javelin through the air to bookmark a page
We uploaded a product tutorial video on Youtube where Anton, our product manager, introduced Calorie Browser and taught you how to use it “correctly”. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out:
Before health enthusiasts start rejoicing, however, there’s one BIG catch to this product: it’s an April Fools’ Day Prank. This didn’t stop some of our fans in social media from falling for it, though:

IT companies, most famously Google, love perpetrating hoaxes and hide easter eggs in products, especially on April Fools’ Day. It’s alway amusing to fall for digital pranks, or share them with friends who have no idea what’s going on.
In the spirit of April Fools' Day, we hope that you had fun with Calorie Browser. Please know, though, that we are very serious about our commitment to give you a fast, all-in-one web experience.
