New Brick Eve! Vol. 5 Jean Valjean
The final moment has come! It's the last of the Brick and NBE!
The battle of the Barricade was finished, Marius returned home by the sewer, Javert derailed, Cosette and Marius got married and Valjean dead. The last volume also have the dramatic parts like the 4th one does, but this part has more sadness. The failure of the revolution, a children's death, the inconsistency of the mind and real society, and the abandonment from the family.
My favorite scenes are like these.
From the first, we should see Enjolras and Combeferre's conversation during shooting the artillery sergent at the barricade. He might be one of their friend or brother indeed.
Next, the death of Gavroche, who was collecting ammunitions for the barricade. It's really one of the most heart-breaking moment of the Brick.
Valjean freeing Javert is really a moment indeed. I liked his thinking was stopped right away and wondering about Valjean's action.
"Do you Permit It?" follows the next. Even the cynic was ready to follow his idol's last moment.
Valjean dragging Marius in the belly of Paris gave me another thoughts after I first read the Brick. He's really doing a hard job as a father of his own indeed.
Javert's derailment. Perhaps one of the most important scenes in the Brick. He might be the 'miserable' one's foes but actually he's one of them, too.
Change the mood. Cosette's Marriage gave me the happy reward of the romance part! Well. excluding for the grandfather's long surmons. Though what Marius did in the last two chapters are not my style, but I wish they should have a happy married life together.(Yup Marius. You should get paid for what you have done.)
The final remarkable scene of the final volume. Valjean dies in the hands of his children. The last moment of the saint, who changed from a convict really made me wet my eyes for a while.
So. the final volume of 2025 was finished today. And this volume is sad like the first one, but not harsher than that. The last part of the entire Brick was done great, and thanks for reading my posts.
