🌿 I have always been partial to places that have fewer people. Sure, it can be nice to lose yourself in a large city like London and acquire anonymity you could never achieve at the countryside or in a small coastal village. However, I have always preferred smaller villages and cities to bigger ones. There's just something authentic about travelling through a small non-touristic place that does not cater mostly to outside visitors. 🌴 I have seen this kind of thing change some cities beyond recognition. My grandmother's village by the sea, for example, has changed from a picturesque postcard village to a tourist trap filled with cars, ice-cream parlours, small trinket shops and calamari stands on every street corner. 🌧️ It's the sad reality of tourism. It can make a place, but it can also break it. The mass of visitors that stomp through the streets of a small city that wasn't built for that amount of people, can easily destroy the architectural beauty and the pristine nature surrounding the tiny buildings. 🍋 • 😯 What about you?
