A colored version of my Half-Elf Druid Careaered
for @annalandin ‘s #rpgweek
The last time I played as “Caree”:
After gaining passage on a steam powered vessel owned by a Dwarf (This Dwarf was heavily in debut to a Ship Yard Mater who happen to owe one of her party members a substantial amount of money!) Caree set sail with her party to the “Other Shore.” During the trip the Half-orc Barbarian, who had joined up mid way through a collapsed mine and owed Caree a blood debt, was murdered with Carree’s obsidian dagger!
Now Carree was innocent and she knew it, even sleep walking or entranced she would never murder someone, especially since she is resistant to magical charms. So she offered to stay locked in the cargo hold, to which only the captain had a key, until the trip was done or the real murderer could be found.
The next day, while twiddling her racking her brain trying to figure out who could have murdered the half-orc the Tiefling woman, a member of the her party who had once been a gladiator in the capital city, entered the hold. As the Tiefling crossed the room she drew her sword and Caree saw blood-lust in her eyes. Caree turned into a rat and hid among the cargo until she could find a way to get on deck and warn the other members of her party of the Tieflings treachery. She suspected that the ex-gladiator had been bewitched by an evil feeling artifact they had picked up in the collapsed mine. This artifact was, coincidentally, the whole reason they were crossing to the “Other Shore.” They hopped that the college that their parties wizard had attended might be able to shed some light on the strange “egg-like” thing.
Up on deck the Wizard and his Gnome attendant were shocked to see Caree transform from a rat into her half-elf self in front of them and where not inclined to believe her story about the Teifling when she told them as she had broken her promise to stay in the cargo hold. She agreed to go back to the cargo hold but only if they allowed her to have her staff and dagger for protection. They agreed to this and escorted her back down to the hold only to find the door wide open and the Tiefling inside tearing up the place looking fore Caree.
When the Tiefling noticed them she turned on them, casting “Darkness” and launching herself at Caree who, although she blocked a killing blow, was quickly beaten down until the Wizards “Chain Lightning” Spell found its mark and knocked the crazed Tiefling unconscious. They found a copy of the master key on the Tieflings person and the Gnome attendant of the Wizard confessed to making it for her because she had asked and he was in love with her.
The Tiefling had clearly gone mad after holding the “egg-shapped” artifact for to long and she was sentenced to be sold back to the Gladiators Colosseum by the Captain in order to reimburse him for the damage she had caused to his ship.
The Wizard fired the Gnome attendant and sent him on his way, disgruntled and heartbroken. After visiting the Wizards College and leaving the “egg-shaped” artifact in their special vault the party is shocked to fined, after a short meeting with the Dean, that the artifact had been stolen from the vault by one of the teachers!!
They left in hot pursuit of the thief, even gaining the aid of a Paliden on their way out of the city! They stay at a roadside in are are beset by bandits hired to take care of any who would follow after the thieving teacher. Caree summons a pack of wolves to fight along side her and takes out more than half of the bandits on her own but that is where this story ends...
Sadly our DM decided that he didnt want to play anymore and so Caree’s journey never saw and ending. What do YOU think would have happened?!
