Careto, a quick study in oil pastels and coloured pencils 👹
In Northern Portugal, Carnival is still celebrated the same way since pre-Roman times.
The Caretos or Entrudos Chocalheiros run around the villages with their loud bells to chase away the cold and welcome the life of Spring. In some places, straw effigies are also set up to be ceremoniously burned. There's music, masks, colours and plenty of food for many days.

Careto Wifi?
Careto, pa onde olhais?
Caretos are misterious masked young men dressed in suits made of wool, rattles around their waist, whose main purpose is to terrorize young girls - making a fuss wherever they roam. Probably the coolest suit in all northern Portugal tradition.
