Summary: Castiel dies when Jack is born, and it hurts reader so badly but she takes care of Jack.
You got out of the impala, slamming the door behind you. Sam and Dean both cringed, and followed suit. Jack sat there for a moment, not exactly understanding what was going on. He soon got out as well following the boys inside the bunker. As soon as you entered the bunker you all but ran to your room, holding back tears you had been dying to cry.
You were in the house with Kelly, and Mary. You had promised to be by her side when the time came and that's exactly what you did. You then went to the window to look out at the boys making sure they came back. Not seeing Crowely your heart broke. You had been surprisingly close with him and saw him as a good friend.
You ran back to Kelly's side when she yelled for you. You were by her side in an instant.
"(Y/n), go. It's ok. Thank you." She breathed heavily, and sobbed. You gave her hand a squeeze and kissed her head. "We'll keep him safe."
You then ran down the stairs as quickly as possible and angel blade in hand. Just as your feet hit the dirt, you saw Lucifer appear behind Castiel. "Castiel, no!" You screamed. He looked at you for not even a second before a bright blue wave of light flashed. When it was over, you uncovered your eyes. Just in time to see his body drop to the ground. "Angel!!" You screamed out before running forward. Your heart completely shattered at the scene before you.
Dean and Sam looked at you with sympathy, but still keeping bravery at the forefront. You were about to throw yourself into a fight with the devil because of what he had done to Castiel. Before you could step forward Dean stretched his arm in front of you. "(Y/n), dont." He said sternly. You didn't fight him, knowing that if you died you would be breaking your promise to Kelly and to Cas.
Lucifer looked at you all, "well, that was fun." You kept your tears in as you heard his words. "Really guys, points for trying." He said with a shrug. You wanted to rip that smug smirk right off of his, you wanted to kill him. You held yourself back though.
For them. For Cas. For Jack.
He looked directly at you and smiled wide. A wicked grin.
"You're the cute one that Crowely spoke about." You sneered at him.
"Aw, wait.. did I-did I just stab your boyfriend in the heart. Oh I did, didn't I who knew blue eyes could get a girl." He said. This just brought more rage up to the surface and Dean had to physically hold you back. "Sorry Dear, he was just so annoying." He shrugs after his words.
Before we knew it Mary came marching from the house.
"Get away from them." She commanded.
He had this barely visible look of surprise. You could tell he was intrigued though.
"Mary, right? I've heard so much about you." He said scanning Mary slightly.
"You, uh, are certainly living up to the hype."
It felt like everything went in slow motion.
The last thing she said stayed in your mind.
The next thing you know Mary and Lucifer are gone. Just when you thought your heart couldn't shatter anymore. It did.
You all just stood there for a moment processing everything that couldn't ever be truly processed.
Sam then quickly moved away and into the house. Going to find the child that had been born moments ago.
Once again you looked to the ground. You see Castiel lying there. No sign of movement. Just there.
You fell to your knees next to him, Dean did the same. You shakily reached out to him lifting his head and resting it in your lap. Letting your tears fall, and sobs escape your lips. Dean was next to you wrapping an arm around you.
You reached across Cas and wrapped your arm around his shoulders. Grabbing him and pulling him close to you. Crying while gripping fist-fulls of your boyfriend's trench coat.
You pulled back from him you had no idea how it could be, but somehow he was still warm.
You gave a watery smile raising your hand to his cheek, your tears falling on his pale cheeks.
"(Y/n), we have to go. C'mon please sweetheart we have to go." Dean tried to persuade you away from cas' body.
You fought against Dean holding on to Cas for dear life.
"No, Dean. No, I can't leave him. I'm sorry not leaving him. Just go, go. I can't leave him!" You sobbed at him. Dean finally let you go and let some tears fall before running back to the house.
You immediately began to speak with him again.
"Hey Angel, I'm here. I'm right here, I won't leave you." You stroked his cheek.
"It's ok Angel, God-God will bring you back. Like he always does. He has to. You won't be gone for long." You tried desperately to reassure the lifeless body of the man you loved. When in all honesty you were trying to reassure yourself.
You rested your forehead against his, closing your eyes. Placing a hand on his chest, you sobbed once more. You no longer felt the steady rise and fall of his chest; you didn't feel his heart underneath your palm.
It was then that you noticed burn marks. You looked either side of you and saw the imprint of Castiel's wings. Those beautiful wings that wrapped around you when you were in danger, or just when you were cold. You let out a strangled cry gripping him tighter, and screwing your eyes shut.
"Castiel, Angel, come home." You pleaded once more.
----after Jack is found----
You saw Jack and walked towards him, giving him a hug and then pulling back.
Dean made sure it was a quick process wrapping up Cas and Kelly. You all gathered the wood and such, carefully placing them on top. You heard Sam speak but tuned him out. You stood a little further from the group.
"Castiel, you are and always will be the love of my life. My angel, and I promise I'll make you and Kelly proud of Jack. I swear it." You said before blinking tears back and rushing back to the car.
You sat on your bed after closing the door behind you.
Sitting there all you can think of is him. Just flashes of the scene play back in your mind.
You hate yourself for not being there in time to save him.
You place your head in your hands and quietly just sit there, tears not falling but your head heavy. Your entire body was heavy.
Your world was heavy, but you knew you had to get up and be there for your new boy. For Jack, he needs you right now. You'll be there for him.
That's exactly what you did. You were there for him.
You had been taking care of Jack as best you could. Defending him against Dean. You even punched him once, he said that he would kill him himself. Hearing those words you walked right up to him and punched him in the face.
"You touch him Dean Winchester. I'll kill you myself." You growled. You grabbed Jack's hand and walked away.
Comforting the boy as best as you could.
"I will never let anyone hurt you Jack. No one. You are good sweetheart. You're not evil, and he'll see that. You'll be ok Jack, I promise you." You said pulling the boy into a hug, kissing his cheek.
You turned the corner and saw Jack reading at the library table. You smile at the boy walking over to him. You ran a hand through his hair and gently placed your lips to his head.
"Hey Jack, how are you?" You asked softly.
He looked up at you with a smile, "I'm ok (y/n), how are you?" He asked back kindly.
"I'm alright Jack. Now what are you looking for?" You asked pulling out a chair beside him and sitting down.
"Oh, I'm looking for a case." He stated. You looked down at the book and were about to speak.
"Jack, (y/n)!" You heard Sam call. You both looked up, and smiled. "Hi Sam, how did it go?" You asked softly. He smiled. "It went great." Chirped Dean. You looked up and gave a smile to Dean. Sure you were pissed but you couldn't help loving these boys and being overly grateful when they came home safe.
"That's great boys... I'm glad you're home safe." You said to them getting up to give them each a kiss on the cheek.
Yet every time they came home from a hunt, and each time, you realized that Castiel wasn't going to be with them. You wouldn't get to run into his arms or kiss him for coming home safe. Your eyes began to sting slightly so you turned away from the boys hastily wiping your eyes.
You didn't know, but they noticed little things about you had changed. They could see how broken you were now. You could barely look at them after coming home, they knew why. It was because you knew that there was one person less to walk through that door. That one person who was your everything. Your Angel.
This time though. This time, things had changed. There was that one person. Your Angel came home.
He saw you from the corner and his eyes glistened with tears, and knowing that Jack was also waiting for him. His heart skipped a beat.
Sam gestured for him to come over. He knew it was time to see you again.
He walked out slowly, your back was turned but you turned at the sound of a voice. His voice.
"Hello (Y/n), Jack." He said.
Jack quickly got up, and he walked to him. They wrapped each other in a hug, both smiling. They pulled away and you stood there with watery eyes. Tears clouding your vision to the point where everything looked different.
"Castiel..." you whimpered. He nodded and you ran to him, jumping into his arms. He caught you and held you like everything hung in the balance if he let go.
"You're home angel, you're home." You cried into his shoulder and he whispered in your ear. "Im home
(Y/n), I'm home." You pulled away slightly to rest your forehead against his.
His skin was no longer pale, his lips were their usual shade of pink. His wings wrapped themselves around you like they did before. It was him, your Angel.. he came back to you.
The rest of the night you spent with him and Jack. Lying in bed after Jack decided to go to his room.
It was just you and him now. He wrapped his arms around you holding you tightly.
"I really thought you were gone. Your wings they were just burn marks in the dirt, I couldn't feel your heart. I couldn't see you breathe.
I couldn't leave you, I begged for you. I cried for you, I watched you die, and I couldn't do a damn thing." You said to him looking at him. You were facing him and he you. His eyes were tearing up at the thought of you in so much pain. "I'm so sorry (y/n). I'm so sorry." His voice broke. "It's not your fault Angel, it's not your fault." You said wiping the tears away.
His large warm hand rested against your cheek and sighed in content, letting a few tears slip.
You placed your hand against his chest and gently pushed him onto his back. You crawled into his lap and straddled his waist. Looking down at him he smiled up at you and held your hips. He let out a small laugh at your actions which caused you to laugh as well.
"You're so beautiful." You whispered looking down at him and seeing that his wings were wrapped around you once again. He let a blush dust his cheeks and he moved his hand to the back of your neck. He tangled his hand in your hair pulling you down to let your lips touch. "So are you..." he whispered against your lips before fully pressing them to yours. He slowly sat up and pulled you closer.
Your hands cupped his cheeks then moved to run through his hair. His hand moved back to its original place on your hip along with the other one.
You sighed against his lips, at the feeling of his scruff scratching gently along your face. It was a feeling you had missed so much. His chest was pressed against yours, and you could feel it.
There they were. His heart beat against yours, and you could feel his chest move up and down with each breath.
He pulled back and lied back down bringing you with him. You smiled and slid back to his side. You faced each other once again, looking into his bright blue eyes again.
"You're really home?" You asked once again. He pressed his lips to your forehead. "I'm really home."
