Not A Charity Case || Rose and Charity || Date TBC
Rose crouched in the empty alley, eyes fixed on the couples sitting around, outdoors, for some reason, it was freezing, but there were heaters beaming down on them, and they were wrapped up warm, enjoying mugs of steaming mulled wine and warm sultana rolls.
Her stomach growled, and she had to lean on the wall, as she grew dizzy. She was so hungry. She'd last eaten on the hunt, and she hadn't managed to get more than a few mouthfuls, with Remus and Thane and the mess that was her life.
She shivered. She'd managed to run to the house, through the wards - he hadn't updated them to keep her out - and snag a thick coat, but she was still cold - it had got damp as she slept. She closed her eyes, and she could still smell His scent...
She shook herself. She knew she had to stay awake, if she fell asleep, she would die, of cold and dehydration. She dragged her fingers through her hair, forcing it into submission, but she could see that having messy hair appeared to be fashionable. Reluctantly, she shrugged out of her coat, and padded across the road, making sure she wasn't noticed by any of the diners. Slipping between the tables, she acted as if she belonged there, checking tables. A couple got up and left, and she pounced on the remains of their meal, drinking the hot mulled wine that was left, and stuffing the croissant and the sandwich into her pockets.
An angry shout made her flinch, and she ran, blindly. Since her punishment, whenever she was panicked, her senses shut down, and she unthinkingly ran away from where she'd left her coat.
She found herself stumbling into a doorway, crouching behind railings, panting, weak with hunger. She sat heavily on the step, and scooped up a handful of snow with frozen fingers, painful from the blood rushing through them, and funnelled it into her mouth, swallowing the ice-cold water, trembling, squeezing herself against the railings, as if they would offer her some heat. Without her coat, the scar on her neck was visible, and she hunched down, eating the food she'd managed to scavenge. Please... take me home. She knew who she was pleading to, and she knew neither of them would. Her eyes drooped. Goddess, she was tired...
