Spinel from Steven Universe kind of fractured mind, mixed with Entrapta from SPOP. Innocent, confused, a little crazy, doesn't quite know what's going on most of the time, and there's something unstable under the surface.
She's usually bubbly and excitable, curious about the world around her, and very protective of people she cares about. Unfortunately, this mix often leads to her throwing herself into harms way to protect someone without thinking. Could be called dumb or airheaded by the less observant, but she's actually very intelligent. She just has a hard time processing things, or expressing her thoughts in ways that make sense to others.
Despite not being biologically related to either of them, she carries a lot of similarities in personality and flaws to both Tenna and Spamton. She has a bit of an Icarus syndrome like Spamton, naively reaching far too close to the stars without fully realizing it will burn her- and something akin to chronic denial, like Tenna- fully refusing to see or accept reality if it upsets her too much.
She often gets quite distressed if she goes too long thinking about her various anxieties, leading to erratic behavior or sudden, desperate masking, even going as far as to attempt to gaslight herself just to get calm enough to prevent a system crash.
Due to this, she's often perceived as, or IS selfish, ignoring warnings of consequence in favor of not thinking about
Piper was created by Tenna back when he and Spamton were still big shots to be a fun little daughter/assistant who essentially did "Mike"'s job, alongside her own segments in the show sometimes. She was like a little hostess, serving guests during shows, assisting Tenna where needed, and entertaining guests between main events.
She was both overworked by Tenna, and overworked by herself. She does not know how to put herself and her needs first. She's here to keep people happy, to keep her dad happy, to keep the family happy.
Tenna considered her his child, and Spamton, to her, was either like a step-father, or the weird uncle who lived with them. When Spamton ran off, Piper went after him, intending to convince him to come back home. (Tenna assumed Spamton took her with him)
Piper stayed with Spamton while he was having his downward spiral, just kind of making sure he was okay, trying to get him to go home, whilst simultaneously refusing to go home without him.
She worked in Queen's castle briefly, but being without maintenance and "living in a gosh darn garbage can" (or at least next to it) for so long, she's started to get a little confused. She's taken a few clumsy tumbles, or accidentally zapped herself on various tech around Cyber City- which hasn't done wonders for her circuits.
Now taking a bit more after Spamton than anyone intended, but still a helpful little sweetheart, Swatch decides to keep her on as part of the staff in the castle so she has something to do other than listen to Spamton's ramblings all day.
When Berdly and Noelle arrive in Cyber City, Berdly recognizes her as one of the figurines he owns, and realizes he must have accidentally brought her to the computer lab in his backpack. He starts geeking out, and she matches his energy.
As it turns out, not only does Piper not mind his arrogance/pride (reminds her of Spamton and Tenna. Or maybe she just doesn't pick up on it), but she legitimately finds him to be cool. The two hit it off, and Piper starts just kind of following him. Berdly's okay with it, because he feels he's finally made a friend who doesn't hang out with him out of pity or something.
She follows along in the shenanigans throughout the chapter, though her confusion/airheadedness only seems to increase with each interaction. I'm not sure what she's doing for most of the castle stuff, aside from Berdly showing more visible concern for her as she keeps getting herself into more danger the longer she goes unchecked, while the rest of the castle staff is just "yeah, she's just kind of like that though? Don't worry too much about it."
I wonder if maybe she gets wired alongside Berdly during the queen fight (her face is kinda plug shaped ngl), and while Berdly gets out mostly unscathed, the cord shocks her so bad as it comes out that it fries her and she shuts down.
Berdly stays there with her while the gang goes to fight Giga Queen, and once the fountain is sealed, in the light world, the figurine is found to be broken. Despite being told it was all a dream, this visibly disturbs Berdly (in the same way Noelle is disturbed by snowgrave evidence in the light world after waking up).
Kris and Susie go to ask him if they can borrow the figurine, saying they want to try and fix it for him. He reluctantly agrees, and when taken back to castle town, Spamton, after a moment of visible, but quickly masked distress, tells them that he can't help fix her because he's not the one who built her. They'll need someone else for that.
Once Tenna is in Castle Town, Tenna is able to repair Piper, and they're happily reunited. Despite Piper still being a bit lost and wonky in the head, she's a heck of a lot more functional and coherent than she was at the end of Chapter 2.
Either they give the now fixed Piper back to Berdly in the light world, and she exits his Key Items when he winds up in Castletown, or she'll be there to meet him when he arrives, and go in his Inventory before he leaves so she's there in any dark world he goes to.
And also they're besties who gain feels, your honor :)
Piper feels a bit lost in her purpose in life since arriving in Castletown. She yearns to entertain like Tenna, but she also wants to be in experiencing the fun with the audience like Spamton does as a salesman.
Her biggest dream is to be able to go back and forth between the Light World and the Dark Worlds, but after receiving a similar speech from Ralsei like was given to Tenna at the end of Chapter 3, she feels defeated and hopelesss.
Eventually, she does find a way to the Light World, either during The Roaring (when theoretically the two planes of existence would merge), or she dashes through a Dark Fountain as it's being sealed/walked through by the others
🐦 -Relationships With Others- 🐦
Tenna - Creator/father. Very close, very loving dynamic. Tenna adores his little business darling the same way he does Kris, and Piper aspires to be like Tenna, though she's more nervous telling him about her problems because she worries about a disappointment.
Spamton - sort-of-co-creator/father/step-father. Though Spamton does love her, he finds it harder to talk to/connect with her due to his own guilt and awkwardness at seeing how alike they are. In spite of this, Spamton is the one she is most comfortable being fully vulnerable with, because she doesn't feel like she has to hide or mask her brokenness.
Addisons - Aunts/uncles??? Estranged due to how close she is with Spamton, though they are fond of her. Piper thinks the few who are nice to Spamton are cool, and looks up to them, but she avoids the others.
Pipis - Little sister??????????
Swatch - Guardian. Kept a general eye on her when she was in Queen's palace due to feeling bad about her circumstances.
Queen - mentor sort of? She's like a wine aunt/mother figure. Sometimes forgets Piper's name, but she does that with everybody, honestly. Finds Piper darling, and worries about her, but hasn't gotten the chance to speak to her much before they both wound up in Castletown
Berdly - Best friend/later boyfriend. Though a bit tiring to chase around sometimes, Berdly finds her spastic energy and curiosity a fun and exciting difference to most other people he knows. Piper finds his geek/nerd energy genuinely charming, and legitimately thinks he's one of the coolest people ever.
The fact they're both willing and wanting to hang out together, listen to each other ramble, or even take the time to get to know each other means the world to the both of them. "Weird" doesn't feel so weird when they're together.
Lancer - friendlyly aquainted
Roulxs - A-Aquainted???????????? She isn't quite sure what to make of him. Lowkey a little concerned about him. Roulxs consistently forgets what her name is.
Kris - Friends or enemies depending on the route
Ralsei - uneasy frenemies (they don't trust each other). Quite possibly the only one she would drop her smile as a result of seeing.
Stretchy arms - her arms can go extendo!
Speech impediment - Like Spamton and Tenna, she has a unique speech pattern that will intermittently quote songs in the place of words
A Little Everywhere - Being essentially unsupervised on the streets, unmaintenanced for years, something in her head got corrupted or corroded, leading to her being a little bit spacy and not-quite-there. Following her being destroyed and rebuilt, Tenna was able to prevent further damage, but he can't fully fix it just yet.
-Piper’s design and personality are inspired by Spinel from Steven Universe, Entrapta from SPOP, Pinkie Pie from MLP FIM, and Jenny from MLAATR.
-Piper is the one who pulled Spamton from the acid pools in Queen’s mansion. Her arms sustained severe burns as a result, hindering their functionality until they were replaced by Tenna.
-Piper originally helds some resentment towards Spamton for his actions, and wished he would at least take accountability for some of it, if not all. Overtime, however, she seems to have forgotten why she was upset with him in the first place, leaving Spamton uncomfortably aware of her increasing dysfunction.
-Despite keeping the bowtie, Piper does not switch fully back to her TV World uniform after arriving in castle town. It reminds her of bad times, and finds the tattered Cyber City garb suits her color palette better.
-Piper's Lightner arc is inspired by "Boop! The Musical" and the song "Pinkie's Lament"
-Piper, despite not being biologically related to either of them, carries a lot of similarities in personality and flaws to both Tenna and Spamton.
She has a bit of an Icarus syndrome like Spamton, reaching far too close to the stars without fully realizing it will burn her, and something akin to chronic denial like Tenna, fully refusing to see or accept reality if it upsets her too much.
-Despite heavily disliking Ralsei, they share the trait of heavily masking their own problems to avoid upsetting or worrying their loved ones
-Hates herself or Spamton being referred to as akin to a virus, and doing so is one of the fastest ways to get her mad
-With Kris, Susie and Ralsei making up the main trio- Berdly, Noelle and Piper make up the quote-unquote "B-Team"
-Piper has her own tile in the prophecy (see last image attached above), "The Rising Star crashes to the Earth, only the loons to mourn her name", referencing both her Crashout-Era decline, and her Icarus arc.
"The loons" is mostly referring to Spamton and Berdly (a 'loon' means someone who is crazy, and is also a type of bird").
This can be further interpreted as the fact that only those forgotten or pushed aside by the narrative, labeled crazy or otherwise delusional, would be capable of truly empathizing with her.
-Occasionally referred to as [Rising Star] by Spamton, in reference to her bit of the prophecy
