rewatching ever after high because my evil ex ruined it for me
Part One: The introductioning
i watched ever after high once, a year ago, prompted by an old situationship of mine who grew up on it and recommended i watch it
so the title isn't 100% accurate in calling her "my evil ex", but it rolls off the tongue better than "my walking mixed signal situationship who constantly lead me on and gave me too much lore to put on a tumblr post"
this isn't about her though. this is about the fact that i REALLY enjoyed it on my first watch, but once she and i stopped talking i buried anything and everything to do with her and forgot most of what happens in this show
however avoiding her REALLY isn't easy- we have a lot of mutual friends who remain impartial and dealing with her is inevitable half the time. it's time for me to wake up, face the music, and watch the damn show about the dolls again
the least i can do is stop letting her rip away my enjoyment of something i only quit liking because of what she did (and has nothing to do with the media itself)

"The World of Ever After High
- Okay, after some research, I can confidently say have NO idea what the continuity is supposed to be
- When I watched it the first time I just binged the ones on Netflix all the way through but it turns out there are YOUTUBE WEBISODES

- so to keep up with the proper order, today we're watching "The World of Ever After High" on Youtube (The first webisode). HERE GOES!!
- that theme song still slaps even if i don't understand a lot of the words being said
- The whole point of this show is Fairy tale characters go to high school, but they have to sign a book promising to do the same things their parents did. This concept is fucking wild to me now that I think about it
- What if that happened in real life?? You have to do EXACTLY what your parents did... Just... because? Like for ME that looks like, "I'm going to have a loveless marriage and then get divorced just like my parents"
- I'm glad Raven Queen and I are on the same page about this. She's the daughter of the Evil Queen and she doesn't wanna be evil
- For some reason I like the insinuation that we let walking talking pigs come to the school too. I'm sure Lumiere has teenage candlesticks running around this campus somewhere and no one has a problem with that
- I understand where Apple White (Snow White's daughter) is coming from... but you can always just have a happily ever after WITHOUT all the crazy get-poisoned-crap in between
- While my situationship was watching this as a kid, my sister made MY family a Descendants household, and the Royal vs Rebel conflict reminds me of the Villains vs Good Guys thing that Descendants had? But I like Royals vs Rebels better because you don't necessarily have to align somewhere because of your parentage: you get to DECIDE if you want to follow destiny or not. And since cliques are usually based on common interests it makes the Royal vs Rebel conflict more realistic I guess
- Briar Beauty and Ashlynn Ella are so fun I love them
- Goldilocks daughter is an iPad kid?
- Noticed a kid who looks like Hunter from Ginny and Georgia, but ignoring him for now because I've decided that Cedar Wood might be my favorite
- What's up with Cerise Hood? I remember nothing about her from the first watch. Is her big secret that she's a furry?
- Madeline Hatter reminds me SO much of Pinkie Pie, and I LOVE that she can hear the narrators. 10/10 worldbuilding
- Oh so those are some of the most mid men I've ever seen. The one with glasses looks like a guy I liked in fifth grade
- FROG PRINCE KID!! This made me think of Tiana and THAT made me wonder, "Why is everyone here white except Cedar"
- Oh my god the gingerbread man is a perfect PE coach. BECAUSE HE WANTS YOU TO RUN RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!
- HOLD ON HIS NAME IS HUNTER?! HE'S DATING ASHLYN?!
- THIS IS INSANE
