Happy Halloween!
Come join me on all the fun the castle is having with our annual Halloween Festival! This was so much fun to put together! And as you read it, you'll see why! Enjoy! ~~~~~~
(Special Entry: Written by [REDACTED]) {No spoilers~ hehehe}
Near the Castle entrance, just through the doors, I can see a sign that glows in the dim candlelight of the entrance hall.
‘Costume rentals’
The arrow indicates an open door to the right of the hall slightly hidden by a blood-red velvet curtain.
Just through the door is a hallway that’s long and dark. Candles float in the air above your head and ghost flit past the windows, giggling as they glide through the air.
A long red rug travels the length of the hall, providing a path along the black marble floors to the room at the end.
A thick fog seeps from under the door and a green glow can be seen around the edges.
When the door is opened, the fog comes billowing out, obscuring my view for a moment as someone inside lets out a crazed cackle!
“WELCOME FRIEND!”
Through the fog, I can see someone dressed in a long brown trench coat, his waistcoat and pants stained with what might be blood. His head is round and rays sprout around the circumference giving him the appearance of the sun. One eye glows green through the dark while the other is covered with a strange device with several lenses and knobs.
The mad scientist grins as he waves me in.
“In need of a costume for the party? Well, you’ve come to the right place.”
From behind the mad scientist steps a headless figure dressed all in black, a Jack-o-lantern under one arm.
The face on the pumpkin grins and an echoey voice emanates from the spooky smile.
“We can change you into anything your spooky little heart desires! Be it ghost or ghoul, Vampire or werewolf, we have the right costume for you!”
Then a voice sounds from behind you, making me jump and spin around. I could have sworn there hadn’t been anyone there moments before…
“But renters be warned! All costumes must be returned before the light of dawn or the wearer will be cursed to keep their new form!”
I finally pinpoint the voice, looking over the mad scientist and headless horseman’s shoulders. Eyes glow from just beyond the doorway and as the figure steps from the shadows, I see a vampire dressed in a flowing red coat.
“What creature would you like to be this All Hallows Eve, friend?”
I smile, my own eyes glowing.
(Ravenwriter's POV: Written by me!)
The sound of music could be heard through the closed windows of the castle. I hum to the beat, swaying my hips as I brush my hair. An excited buzz all around me.
This night was the night of the Castle’s Annual Halloween Festival. A fun and celebrator night that celebrated all the creepy and crazy. This was going to be my second festival during my time as Archivist, and I don’t plan to miss a second!
I finish up with my hair, turning this way and that to double check that my wings and attire where up to snuff. Since I was technically still on duty, I had to wear my usual uniform and Castle Emblem. But I did head to the ‘Costume Rentals’ room to change my cloak to one that had spooky designs in black lace embroidered into the fabric.
I look at one of the grandfather clocks in the hallway, then I freeze.
WAS IT THAT TIME ALREADY?!
I was late! I quickly reach into my satchel and pull out a black masquerade mask that covered the top half of my face. A beautiful accessory from the same costume room. I run to a window and pull it open. Revealing the ground a good distance away.
I step out, taking a deep breath before falling forward. I open my wings as wide as I can, the wind catching my feathers. It’s enough to help me take to the skies. It is an easy task for me to quickly reach the festival.
An amazing sight to behold!
The festival was mainly outside, but a part of the castle had opened up, allowing people to walk back and forth between the two. It was as if someone had torn a wall off one of the ball rooms. People inside were dancing to lively music, the same music I heard while getting ready.
Outside, people where partaking in all the food and rides the festival offered. Suns, Moons, and Eclipses all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Y/ns where chatting with each other, helping out where they could, or enacting pranks on others.
Creators where simply enjoying each other’s company and the fall season.
Laughter filling the night sky.
I smile and dive down into the shining orange lights of the festival. When I touch down, I immediately have someone pulling on my arm. I look to my right to see both my Y/ns from my royal AUs.
The female Y/n—Star—wearing a cute yet classy orange and black gown while the Male version—Pup—wore a formal suit. They both look so tired.
“Do something about our parents…” Pup asks, glaring at me.
“What do you want me to do?” I ask with a raised brow and amused tone.
“Anything!” Star exclaims, “They have been bothering us nonstop! We can’t get a break for ourselves!”
Before I can answer, loud shouting fills the air. The two royals flinch and look over their shoulders. When they make eye contact with their guardians, they curse and make a break for it.
I laugh as two Suns, two Moons, and two Eclipses chase after them. “Good luck!” I shout, not really directed at one group or the other.
I shake my head, heading deeper into the festival. I greet creators I pass and any DCA variant. After a good while I finally find one of the people I’m looking for!
I rush over to say hello.
(POV: Written by @sun-e-chips!)
Everything was looking great! Waterspark Sun, Moon and I, along with the crew of tiki bots, were up at the crack of dawn, working hard to complete the final preparations for the festival. Thanks to the Castle’s funding and Raven’s permission, we were able to set up our two main attractions. The “Oh My Goard So Much Candy!” dispenser, and the “Spooky Soaker” haunted maze.
After much discussion and planning, Sun and I decided to build a coffin resembling candy trough, to place underneath the pumpkin dispenser. This way guests can conveniently grab a bucket and scoop their fill as they pass by. For the more thrilling display, Moon and I settled on a haunted maze where guests were jump-scared with super soaker equipped tikis and aerial water balloon attacks. The maze ended with your only escape being a grand water slide that spits you out next to a drying station.
Regardless, guests were warned before entering that they WILL get wet.
With everything finally in place and the festival starting I can see they’re already a hit for the crowd, and boy do they look great! I watch as a little ghost and witch run out of the maze shrieking their laughter and excitement as a tiki follows in tow, armed with a water ballon aimed and readied in each hand. Carrying my gaze over to the candy station a hoard of zombies eats their fill of Smarties and Dum Dums.
Everywhere tiki bots are running around entertaining other festival enjoyers and picking up the occasional discarded wrapper or two. I can already see them helping themselves to the activities and candy, knowing full well by the end of the night Moon will label it contraband before the tikis can return to the waterpark.
I can’t help but giggle seeing Sun fish out a curious vampire from the candy coffin. Moon didn’t take long to join the pair and, to Sun’s horror, he sprints and makes a cannonball into the recently vacant box. Thankfully the frames hold up bit I can already hear Sun chewing him out from here.
…Goofballs.
Ah! I turn my head and to my delight I spot Raven! I happily wave the archivist over.
“Chips!” The archivist runs up to meet me. I find myself lifted up and spun around once before I’m set back on solid ground. Ravem beams brightly at me, “Everything is amazing! You out did yourself this year!”
I can tell we share our excitement for the big day finally arriving.
“HaHa Fantastic! That is such a relief to hear thank you. Great idea including both the boys vision by the way, I can’t imagine parting with one and not witnessing them come to life together.” I motion over to the two BOO-tiful structures. “It’s going to be quite the challenge to top next year!”
“I’ll say!” Raven looks over at the laughing creators and DCA variants as they dig through the candy and enjoy the thrilling water slide. “My Y/ns have been looking forward to your attractions all month.”
Already smiling I reply “That’s quite the compliment and such an honor.” I clap my hands together, “Nothing makes me happier.”
As I continue to talk to Raven, I remember. “Oh Right! Moon!”
Moon looks over at the archivist and me and gives a mischievous nod. Reaching into his back pocket he pulls out a waterballon and hurls it in our direction.
Raven flinches, wings shooting up to protect her from the incoming watery attack.
I catch the ballon and present it to Raven.
She looks over the ballon and notices its rather light and bumpy feeling. I grin, popping the ballon and Raven’s hands instantly fill with Twix bars.
I laugh “Haha who says you can’t get a little trick with your treat.”
Having gifted Raven’s surprise, I accept our fun is nearing its end.
“Alright alright I won’t hold you any longer from the other creator’s.” I cup my hands to my mouth and nod in the direction of the maze tikis. “Just escape now while you still can, before the tikis decide you’re in need of a proper trick…”
“I’ll warn you the line for the drying station is around 10 minutes.”
Raven nods her head, laughing all the while as she quickly jogs away to avoid the scheming tikis. Purple light, symbolizing her mana, surrounds her, keeping her nice and dry.
She looks over her shoulder and gives one last wave to me.
I wave her goodbye and join Sun in helping dislodge a tiki from the candy dispenser.
(POV: Written by @kinshenewa!)
I looked around the party nervously, face hidden by my off-white rabbit mask as the variety of lights bounced off the violet eyes of the really old mask. With the help of my Celestial Jesters, I had helped put up some of the decorations of the place, pretty bats and spiders handmade by Sun truly hanging all over the walls.
Speaking of Sun, I looked over to see him excitedly at the buffet table, testing the different delicacies and treats there. I giggled, watching him excitedly talk to his brother Moon. I had shrunken them down a bit to better fit in the party, so now instead of 10 feet tall, they were down to 7 feet tall.
My hands fidgeted, picking at the cuticles as I made my way to the buffet table. My hands smoothed down the fur on my suit, a white rabbit fur-suit I had bought some time ago, though the head was just a mask that I got as a teenager, so the mask was certainly different from the suit.
The music was bopping, and I smiled as Sun eagerly ate a mummy jalapeno popper before two other DCA creations were upon the dish, eagerly eating up every single one, but more so the Sun-sona than the Moon one.
My eyebrows raised slightly when I recognized them from Stardust Veterinary Care, a really awesome story that I really loved. I smiled, taking off my mask as I stepped up beside my own Sun and Moon, watching the two doctors rush off, and I saw Raven talking with someone, but Raven’s back was to me and they were blocking my view of whoever they were talking to.
“Cadence, isn’t this great?!” Sun chattered, pulling me close as he stuck a small bit of bright pink meat into my mouth, “There’s so many kinds of foods, I love how creative people are! All these kinds I’ve never heard of!” He giggled happily, and I nodded along as I chewed the meat, enjoying its almost cotton candy-like flavor with hints of mint, the butter a nice way to top it off.
“This is really nice,” Moon commented, looking around as all the different Creators and their Dsonas walked around, “It’s a bit strange seeing all different versions of us, but it isn’t much different than traveling to a different universe and meeting our counterparts.”
I nodded, swallowing my bite before saying, “Yeah, I love seeing everyone’s different Dsonas.”
Sun giggled, pressing his cheek to mine as he said playfully, “Dsonas? You and all your silly words. What’s this one mean?”
I chuckled, looking down at my rabbit mask in my hands as I replied, “Oh, just, ya know, DCA-sonas, but shortened. Cause like, it all revolves around the Daycare Attendant, DCA, and they are like, sonas I guess? Eh…” I shrugged shyly, face burning slightly as I explained my logic.
Sun giggled, pecking the top of my head as he said, “How cute!”
I looked up as Raven approached, and I smiled, clutching my mask to my chest as I said, “Oh, hi, Raven. Nice, uh, party festival. Really enjoy it!”
“Good! I’m so glad! Everyone really went all out!” Raven smiles, holding a basket in the crook of her arm. She takes in the decorations Sun and Moon had set up. “Fantastic job with setting up these stands! They’re a big hit with the kids!”
"Thanks, Sun was really excited to show off his artistic skills," I chuckled, smiling, "He always was the more artsy of the two. I'm glad they are so well received, Sun really enjoyed making the spiders look all realistic and such."
Raven looks over at the lighter Celestial Jester, tilting her head in amusement, “He is very good at his craft. And Moon seems to be having fun as well!”
She laughs before taking in Cadence’s costume, “I love the bunny look by the way! The mask is a nice touch!”
"Yeah, when I was a teen, I got this rabbit mask from Spirit Halloween," I said, smiling fondly at the rabbit mask in my arms, "And I always wanted a fur-suit, so when I had enough money, I eventually commissioned this suit to match the head." I smiled at her, chuckling as I said, "Don't mean to get all sappy on ya, this mask just brings back good memories." Moon put a box into my hands, the wrapping a shiny purple with little green spots while the ribbon was bright red. "Oh, yeah, got ya a present," I said, smiling softly.
“A present?” Raven’s eyes widen and she chuckles, “Thank you!”
She takes it, her wings shaking in anticipation. She gingerly starts to unwrap the present, as if scared that she would break the thing inside.
An evil grin grew on my face as a bright green snake toy jumped out because of a spring, the toy's mouth open as a hiss played from its speakers when the snake jumping out made the string attached to the back of its neck be pulled. I guffawed, doubling over as the snake plushie half hung out of the box, beaded black eyes reflecting the different lights. "I'm sorry!" I wheezed, "It was just too good of an idea!”
Raven’s wings had spread out with each feather puffed up in alarm. Even the feathers in her hair had popped out. Her black masquerade mask crooked on her face from her jumping in alarm. Her chest heaves as the adrenaline leaves her body.
She gives the laughing creator a pointed look before snickering and laughing herself.
"It is da spooky month!" I said, crouching and moving my arms pointedly side to side, doing the spooky month dance for a moment before standing straight. "The snake plush is the gift, just decided to sparkles spruce up sparkles the gift!" I said, doing jazz hands. I chuckled, smiling at Raven as I put my hands on my hips, grinning as I asked, "Ya like it? Eclipse made it." The snake was green, made of a soft and fuzzy felt while the underbelly was a lighter green and smooth.
Raven looks at the snake once more, her features softening. “It wonderful. Thank you! And please give my thanks to Eclipse as well!”
I chuckled, nodding as I replied, "Much obliged. Will do! Once I find him that is..." I looked around, waving as Raven walked off to speak with another of the Creators. Sun and Moon were quick to start getting me to try all the different foods, and I obliged them happily as I enjoyed the festivities.
