Though not as famous as the First Ranger or other such figures within the order, many know the story of Roland, the gladiator and legionary turned ranger. Many in the Republic still remember him as Romulus, one of the most skilled gladiators ever to compete in the arena, and one of the few who earned the rudis and their freedom by fighting. Many in the Alliance remember him as a war criminal, one of the most dangerous men their soldiers faced in the Expansion War.
His work against the Alliance eventually caught up to him, however, and though death seemed imminent following his capture, the intervention of the Rangers set him upon a different path. Though initially unsure of the Rangers, and intent on returning to the Republic, circumstance forced him to accept his fate as a member of the order. Soon, stories of Roland, one of the most fearsome Rangers in Texas, because to replace tales of Romulus.
