PLOT PLAYLIST: the flame & the flood.

SUMMARY: In post-apocalyptic 22nd century Las Vegas people have powers. It’s an accepted part of life for the residents of the once great city, if you are born with yellow eyes instead of the standard brown you will develop abilities beyond the average person’s wildest dream. For some, the ruins of buildings with purposes long forgotten become their home, their powers too strong or too strange to be accepted by the general populous.

Richard and Calum Murphy are twins, both of whom were born the characteristic yellow eyes. Their parents hid their true nature from them, in the hopes that their powers would be weak, and easily explained away. The boys grew up opposites in almost every way possible. Richard was popular, Calum was not. Richard excelled in arts, Calum in science. Richard is an optimist, Calum a diehard pessimist. But despite all their differences they remained close, best friends in a world where most didn’t get that luxury. Then Richard’s powers started to show, gradually, like the documented norm. It started with a bunsen burner, and it didn’t take long for it to grow. Jealousy isn’t quite the word Calum would use to describe how he felt watching his brother’s powers develop, but it’s the closest he can think of. By comparison Calum’s powers came on a lot more suddenly. One second he was drowning, 20 feet from the surface of Lake Mead, the next he was 500 feet from the surface, standing at the bottom of the lake with the water parting for him like a story from the bible. It was an event that both saved and destroyed his life. 

7 years after that fateful day Calum Murphy makes his first reappearance in Vegas, but he’s not coming back the child that barely survived a swim. He’s coming back a man, he’s coming back angry, and he’s coming back to exact revenge on the people that scorned him and the brother that abandoned him.

SUMMARY: Inessa Sampel hasn’t been a girl since the day her parents died. She was 12 at the time, her parents casualties to a war that never should have happened, and she was put in the care of an older sister that wanted anything but than to be in charge of a wild animal masquerading as a child. She struck out on her own as soon as she was allowed, not wanting to be somewhere she clearly wasn’t wanted. It didn’t take long for her to get mixed in with what her sister would have called the wrong crowd. Most of that first crew, and a few subsequent crews after that, are dead, killed by her so they couldn’t bring her down or by other people trying to damage what they thought of as Inessa’s weakness. 

Now she is known all over the kingdom of Keane as The Iron Spine, the leader of a criminal organization unlike any other to grace the streets. But having control of the seedy underbelly of a country is not the limit of her thirst for control and when the king falls ill with no viable heirs she sees her chance to seize the ultimate power right in front of the country that took so much from her. three generations after the original take over of earth and humanity has grown restless, rebellion bubbling under the surface and around every corner. lord kalloe still rules over his people with an iron fist, but rumours are sparking, he is in failing health, and now is the time for humanity to take back it’s home. the human liberation brigade has been operating in secret for over 50 years, and they are taking advantage of what is a once in a lifetime opportunity. breaking out of one the facilities is hard, getting to the capital, set up in what was once kyzyl, russia, is even harder, but hardest is sticking together through the trials and tribulations of the task at hand. can a group of people who’ve never spent more than a few hours outside, save the entirety of humanity? or will they doom their people to a life living in shadows?

PLOT PLAYLIST: when the bullets fly

SUMMARY: Arsen Zao is a spy hidden so well within the ranks of the Queen’s military that he was appointed the sole bodyguard of the crown princess at 14, only two years older than Anabelle herself. The organization he works for is aiming to take down the throne from the inside, using the network of spies already installed deep within the castle walls to bring the royal family down to their knees, and then kill them all. The only hitch in their otherwise flawless plan is Arsen’s rather inconvenient romantic feelings towards Anabelle’s older brother Wyn and his unwavering loyalty to the princess that has become his best friend.

With the help of another palace guard Arsen manages to get both the prince and the princess out of the castle mere hours from the planned attack. The problem arises after the Queen is slaughter and her executors put in power, when the people that raised Arsen like one of their own put a bounty on his head high enough to change the life of all but the richest nobles. Now he’s on the run with two of the most recognizable people in the kingdom and his face plastered on every wall. Despite the unfortunate predicament he’s put himself in his dedication to keeping the young royals safe doesn’t falter, putting himself in increasingly dangerous situations to protect them.

Arsen was raised to know how to live life in the shadows, how to exist without making people notice you were doing so, and he’s going to put every piece of knowledge that was ever given to him to work. One could argue his own moral code is flawed, he’s willing and able to do whatever it takes to reach his goal, up to and including killing the shopkeeper that had just given him a deal on blankets because he recognized Arsen from the poster behind his head. But not everyone’s loyalty lays where he thinks it does, and betrayal can cut deeper than any knife.
