Women in Mahabharata - Chandika

She is the patron goddess of Kuntalpur. It is in her old, dilapidated temple that the main action in the climax of Chandrahas' story takes place.

When the assassins sent by the evil minister Dhrishtabudhhi, murder his son Madan instead of Chandrahas by mistake, Dhrishtadudhhi kills himself.

Finding this out, Chandrahas goes to the temple and offers his own life in exchange for the lives of Madan and Dhrishtabudhhi, who are now his brother-in-law and father-in-law, respectively.

Taking pity on him, Chandika appears before him, promising him the throne of Kuntalpur and granting life to the two dead men.

Women in Mahabharata - Champakamalini

She is the princess of Kuntalpur.

In the story, she spends an enjoyable afternoon with Vishaya, the daughter of the prime minister Dhrishtabudhhi, after which Vishaya accidentally arranges her own marriage to Chandrahas.

Later, the king of Kuntalpur hears about Chandrahas' greatness from the rishi Galava and marries Champakamalini to him, alongside giving up his kingdom and becoming a sanyasi. Chandrahas then becomes the king of Kuntalpur.

Her son is named Padmaksha.

She is the queen of the kingdom Kuntalpur and is the mother of Champakamalini. She frequently colludes with the prime minister Dhrishtabudhhi to defraud the king and steal from the royal treasury.

These two women are regular citizens of Chandanavati, who gaze upon Chandrahas as he returns from a successful conquest and heap praises on him.

Women in Mahabharata - Taarakakshi

She is the wife of Madan, the son of Dhrishtabudhhi, the evil prime minister of Kuntalpur. She is a silent participant in the story, and she is seen taking care of Chandrahas when he is being prepared for his marriage to Vishaya, Madan's sister.

Women in Mahabharata - Chandrahas' Nanny

She is a woman working for the royal family of a kingdom in Kerala in the Jaimineya Mahabharata.

When the king and queen die as a result of an invasion, she takes the infant prince Chandrahas and runs away to the kingdom of Kuntalpul. There she works as a labourer and raises the prince for three years.

When Chandrahas is three, she dies of a broken heart (and possibly exhaustion?).
