and before i get any notes saying "this is a witchcraft blog, stick to that", witchcraft is inherently political. it is what gave the oppressed a sense of power and control over their oppressors.

made a charm bag with the intent to preserve my (relatively) good physical health in the coming months. here’s a bit of how the process went:

i’m working with somewhat-limited resources in the place i moved to, so reusing items is big in my practice right now. the bag was originally part of someone’s christmas gift to me; it worked out nicely because red is a highly protective color in my folk practice!

for the written part — what i consider to be the “meat” of my spell, the core of it representing my intent, if you will — i tore a corner out of the last page of my general life journal. that blacked-out bottom bit is a folk charm that i don’t wish to share. the writing above, however, is a bible verse used in english folk practices to quell bleeding. while it doesn’t encompass every aspect of physical health, the wording really resonates with both myself and my ancestors right now.

the mint and chamomile are literally just from some loose-leaf tea i’ve had for a while. if i ever say witches need to look in their own pantry before going to a metaphysical shop, this is precisely what i mean lol. anyways, i put those herbs in after the written parts, using a special amount of pinches that correspond to protection and holiness in my practice.

i then used a roll-on essential oil — gifted by my mom — on the inside of the bag in a cross shape. before tying the bag, i spoke a charm over all the herbs to awaken their spirits and nudge them to collaborate in the spell’s favor!

I finished my good sleep charm bags for my family and I, to put inside or under our pillows. My godson (7yo) restarted school this week and I know it can be stressful so I wanted to help with his sleep. I usually do spell jars but I wanted to try something different ♥ THEY SMELL SO GOOOOOOD !!!
